How to Get Away with Murder Round Table: Did Bonnie Kill Wes?

Could Bonnie have murdered Wes?

That was the question presented to viewers on How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 11

TV Fanatics Mandy Treccia, Lee Jutton and Paul Dailly discuss the co conspirator twist, Bonnie being the killer and Laurel's lie.

How did you feel about the co conspirator twist?

Mandy: I liked it because it's not how things usually work. They're so good at manipulating the law to their advantage. And now it's coming back to bite them.

Lee: My main thought was that now it will take even longer to get Annalise out of prison, which means we'll have to sit through more of those stupid scenes. Good thing Viola Davis is magnetic enough to keep me engaged in nearly anything.

Paul: I thought it was good. It would have been way too easy to have Annalise released so soon.

Do you think Bonnie could have killed Wes?

Mandy: It's possible. She would do anything for Annalise. Wes was a threat to Annalise. But it also seems a little obvious. Then again, all of these people are way too quick to kill.

Lee: Sure. After all, it's not like she hasn't killed before. Bonnie is one of my favorite characters on the show because she puts forth the impression of being a blank, dispassionate slate -- your stereotypical icy blonde lawyer -- and then she'll go and do some downright crazy stuff.

What I want to know is: Now that they've remembered that Rebecca was a character, will Bonnie's role in her death also come to light?

I just find it amusing that they're investigating Annalise for every single murder that has happened since the beginning of the show, yet she actually committed none of them. Annalise has a lot of issues, but it looks like the biggest issue might be "hanging out with too many murderers."

Paul: It's definitely possible, but this show likes to pull the rug from under us, so I don't think it will ring true in the end.

Will Laurel's lie come back to haunt her?

Mandy: It might. If she remembers who she really saw at the house, she'll look like the liar she is if she changes her story. On the other hand, it's not like Frank doesn't deserve to go to jail.

Lee: As we're seeing play out right now, everyone's lies come back to haunt them on this show. I wonder if Laurel's real memories of what happened that night will eventually come back, and whether they'll inspire her to go back and change her story, or if she'll stay quiet.

Paul: Nothing stays secret for long on this show. Could you imagine the outrage if Laurel was the one sent down for murdering Wes?

How long will Annalise be in jail?

Mandy: Probably until the end of the season. Which sucks because I'm not a fan of this story. I'd rather see Annalise fighting back than giving up.

Lee: Based on the direction the storyline appears to be going, it looks like she won't be getting out any time soon, which is unfortunate, because these prison scenes are all tired and cliched.

The scene of her ripping out her weave would have been more dramatic if we hadn't already seen Annalise without her hair and makeup before.

Paul: Yeah, I think she'll get out at the end of the season when the truth about Wes is finally revealed.

Could the show really continue after this storyline is over?

Mandy: There are always more people for them to murder. But in all seriousness, every single one of them deserves to go to jail. I can't see them going back to being "good" lawyers after all of this.

Lee: Who would employ any of these people after this? Maybe the mafia -- they probably wouldn't be put off by resumes littered with lies and murder. But unless the show takes a drastic turn like that, where the central characters abandon the law school and its surroundings for different pastures, I don't understand how it can proceed.

Paul: I have no idea how the bodies can continue to pile up and for all of them to get away with it. It's getting a bit ridiculous.
