The Exorcist Season 2 Episode 3 Review: Unclean

Something is leading Father Tomas and Marcus straight to Andy's place.

It's uncanny how all the pieces are starting to fit together. Father Tomas and Marcus investigated a possible possession on The Exorcist Season 2 Episode 3, but it didn't turn out to be what they thought.

What the case did do, though, was put them in contact with Rose which puts them one step closer to Andy and all the strange things happening there.

A Relaxed Marcus - The Exorcist Season 2 Episode 3

What a horrible thing for a little girl to have to endure. Her mother was obviously out of her mind to even consider the idea of wanting her daughter to be possessed.

Father Tomas was ready to jump right into the exorcism without knowing all the facts. He was convinced that his vision in the truck was proof enough that Harper was possessed.

It was a creepy and scary vision, but it had more to do with the next steps on their journey than it did with Harper's actual possession. That's what I got out of it anyway.

Cindy was part of the vision, and so was Harper, but Father Tomas doesn't yet see the connection. And why would he? To be honest, at first, I thought it was Grace standing in the middle of the road.

But, the problem is that now he's going to doubt any visions he has because of this experience. He could have killed a little girl because of his impatience. But maybe it's just the demon is messing with him because he's so green and won't listen to Marcus' warnings.

Father Marcus Takes a Walk? - The Exorcist Season 2 Episode 3

Marcus proved once again why he's an expert exorcist. He doesn't take his job lightly. He's seen it all before, and if Father Tomas was losing respect for the guy, then those notions were just thrown out the window.

I wonder how many cases of fake possessions Marcus has seen in his experiences?

I was getting as frustrated with Marcus as Tomas. The girl had all the looks of a child possessed with the cracked lips and scarring. It seemed like we were on our way to "the possession of the week" until they eventually found Andy and his house of horrors, but this was almost like a Law & Order case!

The fake-out was a surprise, and that made how Rose popped into their story even better.

Harper will end up at Andy's place, and Father Tomas and Marcus will want to visit the girl, and that's when they'll discover the funky goings-on happening at the home.

And there was lots of funkiness happening there.

Grace and Andy - The Exorcist Season 2 Episode 3

It's still unclear who the demon has latched onto, if anyone, at this point. Grace seems like a good candidate, but Caleb is still acting odd.

When he was putting in his eyedrops, I was waiting for that second eye to show up. He's still insistent that Verity was the one who walked him to the well that night. I don't believe that she did, but maybe something took her form.

There has to be some reason why he's insistent that Verity was the one unless it's just that he doesn't like her and wants to get her in trouble. It's something that a brother would do to his older sister, foster siblings or not.

The most frightening moment featured Shelby praying in the lake seemingly causing startled birds to take flight. Did he cause the birds to come forth or was it Grace?

We don't know how long it has been since Grace left the house, but it was unusual that those birds made their appearance when she did.

And the birds haven't been the only strange thing happening lately, at least according to Andy. We don't know the details of the other odd occurrences, but something has been going on otherwise he wouldn't have asked the farmer about it.

Things Get Worse - The Exorcist

I bet the farmer knows something. Why didn't he talk about the lamb? Why didn't either of them talk about the lamb? (By the way, wasn't that an awfully large hole for such a tiny thing?)

I'm looking forward to the arrival of Father Tomas and Marcus and seeing how everything will piece together.

I'm not sure about the Vatican conspiracy though. I love Father Bennett, but I'd rather spend more time with Marcus and Father Tomas than in old dungeons with exorcist nuns. Is that what she was? It seems like we should know who she is, but I don't recall her.

However, I do like Mouse a lot. It was a satisfying watching Cardinal Dio meet his maker thanks to Mouse's communion-sprinkled tarts. I can imagine her and Marcus would make a great team if they ever come in contact.

Over to you guys. What did you think of "Unclean"? Who has the demon latched onto, if anyone?

Is it just waiting for Father Tomas? Is there a connection between Nicole's suicide and the birds? What's your opinion of Mouse?
