The Sirens took center stage on Gotham Season 4 Episode 8 when Penguin sent the trio on a mission to the Narrows.

Meanwhile, Jim took on a new role in the GCPD that put him in direct conflict with Bullock.

Lee Takes Over - Gotham Season 4 Episode 8

I always love a good scene between Lee and Babs, and "Stop Hitting Yourself" didn't disappoint. It wasn't a huge scene, but it afforded Lee an opportunity to knock Babs around a bit.

Lee isn't as dark as she was when she had the Tetch virus. She's more of a reluctant bad girl, but now that she's become the leader of Cherry's fight club, there is a lot of potential for her to delve deep into that dark well.

Lee has developed an affinity for the underdog and a special place in her heart for Ed and Grundy. She was a little unsure when Ed told her she was the woman in charge, but she quickly figured out a way to make the people happy.

Drinks for everyone is always a good way to curry favor.

Lee, Ed, and Grundy are on their way to becoming a force to be reckoned with, and I wouldn't be surprised if Babs decided she wanted to join Lee's party.

I'd love to see the two of them working together doing bad-girl things, but neither of them would be willing to give up power to the other. They'll never be friends, but they might end up fighting on the same side, and that will be a lot of fun.

The Sirens weren't able to capture Ed like Penguin demanded which probably won't go over very well. Now the trio is, essentially, on the run. But Babs is resourceful, so she'll come up with a plan, though I would put some money on Selina.

She may be a teen, but she has brains and balls, and it wouldn't surprise me if Selina ends up taking over Bab'sown operation.

It's too bad Penguin doesn't have a sense of humor because if he would've seen Ed's interpretation of him, he would have been on the floor laughing his ass off.

But Penguin had better things to do like showing a young boy the fine art of revenge — and how to stab someone in the heart efficiently. Sofia had told Penguin that he needed a distraction from business and Martin provided him with a great one.

The young boy who wanted to set fire to his classmates' book bags also helped Penguin realize that Sofia isn't all she's cracked up to be. I'm glad Penguin has finally figured out something's not quite right about Carmine's daughter, but her intentions toward Jim are still unclear.

Sometimes, if you're not careful, friendship can blind you to what's staring you right in the face.

Sofia may not be on anyone's side. Everything she's doing might be for her gain alone. I don't believe she's doing all of this to help Jim. There's something else going on here because she didn't seem too upset when Jim turned his back on her.

It was almost as if she expected it.

Jim better watch out because of all the criminals in Gotham, Sofia may be the most dangerous. How did she get the Commissioner and Mayor to agree to Jim becoming Captain of the GCPD at the risk of pissing off Penguin?

Did she want to create a rift between Jim and Harvey? She did a grand job on that front if that was her intention.

Jim didn't want to take over as Captain, but Harvey gave him no choice. The GCPD needs a strong leader, and Harvey couldn't even face his officers because he felt so terrible about what happened in the Narrows.

Nygma Mocks Penguin - Gotham

Instead of being the big man and a leader who can take his lumps, Harvey hid behind the bottle. Sofia said Harvey was weak, and Jim recognized Harvey's weakness when he confronted his buddy in the office.

Jim knows the GCPD needs a strong leader to take back the city from Penguin, and he was willing to risk his friendship to save the soul of Gotham. It wasn't an easy decision for Jim to make, but he's only ever wanted to do the right thing, and taking over for Harvey was the right thing to do.

Jim has the weight of the world on his shoulders, even more so than usual. It's going to be a long road, but Jim will do everything he can to whip the GCPD into shape. What he has to worry about is whether Harvey will expose his secrets and if anyone will believe what Harvey has to say.

What did you think of "Stop Hitting Yourself"? Will Lee be a successful fight club owner? How long will Jim and Bullock's rift last?
