Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Getting Over Jeff

at .  Updated at .

Sometimes taking a step back and focusing on someone else's journey is helpful to your own. Or at least that's the path Rebecca ends up on when she goes with Paula to visit her dad and finds herself bonding with him while Paula meets an old boyfriend.

But it is Josh that ends up carrying the strangest plot with a new job and a new pimple.

On Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Episode 7, Rebecca goes with Paula to her childhood home, and White Josh and Darryl get face to face with their breakup. Meanwhile, Nathaniel is out there somewhere hugging his big stuffed animal and sexting Rebecca.

Coming To Terms - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Rebecca took a bit of a break from the chaos and nothing was as important as watching her just relax. Hanging out with Paula's dad made her relax for a second and just focus on the moment.

It had to be the best part of the episode because Rebecca wasn't controlling the story this time around and yet watching her just enjoying the simple things made everything stand out even more.

Even her little nightly connection with Nathaniel was calm and relaxed and just two people enjoying the fact that they like each other. Rebecca wasn't thinking too much about it, in fact, it felt like Nathaniel was doing that for her.

But also he wasn't pushing to make anything happen and watching Rebecca just hanging out with someone who cares about her is refreshing.

With Greg, it felt like Josh was still around sometimes and they were too self-destructive together. But with Josh and Rebecca, it felt like that relationship represented everything she was struggling with.

Yet with Nathaniel, it feels more promising because it isn't about him or how he will factor into Rebecca's romantic live right now. Her treatment is the priority, and so it is even more exciting to just root for Rebecca having fun in Nathaniel's presence without starting to read too much into all of it.

I'm sorry. Syracuse is a great school for ... Communication or something?

Rebecca

Paula's backstory was even better than I could have hoped for and even though I had no stake in either side, her getting closure was the best part.

She continues to struggle at home, but the idea that she could have been happier somewhere else has to have plagued her for a while.

It was also wonderful that while Rebecca had her Josh Chan, Jeff wasn't a direct ripoff. The paralleled grocery store scenes were perfection, but still, at the end of the day, Paula had her own adventures.

I'm glad that Paula chose to come home, but I am still waiting for the day when her family picks up on her extreme her work ethic. Paula is an amazing inspiration, and she should continue to find success not only in her household but in the outside world as well.

I'm a big boy. What's the word for that?

Josh

Josh's arc felt like the weakest one, mostly because it didn't matter.

Maybe this was created on purpose, having Josh lacking our interest while Rebecca and her positive journey has everyone excited to see where she is going next.

But without Josh fighting a narrative that Rebecca has created for him, he can be very underwhelming. The pimple had to be the worst part but in general, it felt like connecting to his struggle would be hard.

And I couldn't help but notice how this connects to the first episode where Josh's name isn't even in the title. Josh doesn't have the spotlight on him anymore, and this could be affected him every obviously.

Why is Nathaniel leaving so sexy?

Paula

Darryl and White Josh had a breakup that felt off, and it wasn't just because I was hoping somehow they would find a way to make it work.

It felt like Madison was pushing Darryl too hard, and all that for a sibling? I can't remember ever being this obsessed with getting a baby in the house to the point where I meddle in everyone's lives.

The breakup itself also felt like it wasn't deserving of a couple like this, one that could make it work in my mind. The baby thing was hard to solve, but I don't believe that no middle ground will be found since White Josh was great with Madison.

Also, I can't imagine either of them with someone else so I will have to wait for them to find their way back to one another.

I always get busy after work tomorrow night.

Josh
