Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7 Review: Go Cubs

at .

I never thought I would want to hear more about Jackie's ghosted stories, but can we please dedicate an entire episode to hearing the rest of them?

When I first heard about Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7, I admit I was a little on the nervous side about how they were going to portray the new family next door to Roseanne. Were the writers going to handle this with respect? Or was this going to be horribly offensive somehow?

I will admit it can be difficult when reviewing a show such as Roseanne knowing the things the Roseanne posts on social media.

Meet The Neighbors - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7

I am happy to report they portrayed the new family on the block with a lot of respect, but I still found myself angry with the way Roseanne just automatically assumed the family was going to be dangerous.

Of course, it can also be said Roseanne's fear of her new neighbors is nothing new. You can easily turn on any news program and see endless amounts of racism, prejudices, and hate crimes among many other terrible things.

Looking at where Roseanne lives, in the Midwest, her opinions are don't shock me in the least – I've seen these kinds of attitudes and opinions, up close.

It was terrific to see her change her view of the neighbors so quickly. There was never any reason for Roseanne, and the rest of the family, to be afraid of her neighbors. All she had to do from day one was to go over there to introduce herself.

My favorite moment was when Roseanne was at the supermarket. What kind of human being has any right to spew such hate especially while the person is supposed to be working?

I was cheering on Roseanne when she went off on the cashier because no one deserves to be treated with disrespect especially when they did nothing even to deserve it.

Roseanne Tries - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7

Is anyone else mildly confused by the money troubles the Conner family are suffering? I know we are supposed to view them as working paycheck to paycheck, but I was shocked to see them be so much in the hole when Dan didn't end up getting the job Al was offering.

I did understand why Roseanne sent all the payments for the bills – Dan was confident he was going to get the job, and there was no reason to question Al since he had loyally worked with Dan for years, but Al never did sign the contract in the first place.

Why would you risk bouncing all those checks without the final signatures on the contract? I don't care how loyal you may claim to be.

I did have some issue when Dan was blaming the undocumented workers for getting the job instead of truly blaming Al for hiring them.

Dan was right about the undocumented workers taking whatever job they can get, but Roseanne was also correct in saying it all comes down to Al who should be the one blamed for taking advantage of the situation. I am curious to see if these financial issues will play an even bigger part of the story by season's end.

Going Strong - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7

The one bright spot was FINALLY having DJ be a part of the show.

We've seen him a couple of times, but I have been looking forward to hearing how he has been doing. I've really enjoyed hearing about what Darlene and Becky, as well, are going through, but I've felt like DJ has been pushed aside.

I would have loved to hear more about what he went through when he was in the army – is this why he is now seeing a therapist?

I'd love to see how DJ is as a parent, too. It's clear he cares about his daughter, but he's still trying to get used to being the solo parent while his wife is in Afghanistan.

Which brings me to my biggest complaint of, not only this episode but the entire season as a whole – I feel like it has been incredibly uneven.

While I have enjoyed getting to know the characters again, there is still so much more I want to know.

The Family Tries To Help - Roseanne Season 10 Episode 7

I know it won't happen this season, but I hope they expand on what has happened these past few years in the lives of the Conner's just a little bit more. We've gotten some clues here and there, but I still find myself asking questions.

Now it's your turn to tell me what you think.

Did you like the way they wrote Roseanne's opinion of the neighbors? Did you enjoy how quickly Roseanne changed her mind? Are you curious to see what happens with Dan's new business idea?

Let me know in the comments below.

Jackie: Roseanne get in here!
Roseanne: What?
