Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Death is Only Temporary

If you didn't shed a tear at that happy ending, you have no heart!
Every week, I think Magnum P.I. can't get any better, but it always seems to top itself, and Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 6 was no different.
Magnum and friends proved that anyone can be a superhero. A simple act of kindness is all it takes to change someone's life for the better.
Higgins enjoys helping Magnum solve his cases.
She took particular interest in Magnum's current case not because she wanted to keep an eye on her White Knight, but because she made a connection with Henry who was suffering from the same disease that afflicted her mother.
It has to be a heartbreaking ordeal dealing with a loved one whose memories are slowly disintegrating, and it was clear that Henry's frustrations triggered something in Higgins.

She quickly helped him calm down, and it was clear Magnum was touched by Higgins' actions.
Those two.
They have a mutual respect for each other that grows deeper as each day passes, and they genuinely like each other.
It's a refreshing change to the Higgins/Magnum relationship from the OG days, and whether they end up together or not, this Higgins and Magnum make a great team.
I miss the early episodes when Higgins was part of the action and kicking ass all over, but it's always enjoyable to see how creative Magnum can get when he has to find a way out of trouble.

He spends a lot of time trying to talk his way out of bad situations, but then he finds something handy -- in this case, a log -- to save himself from serious injury or certain death.
There was a nice twist to Henry's case. I never suspected the caretaker, but his involvement in Elizabeth's murder didn't matter much anyway after Henry learned he had a daughter.
I never thought an episode of Magnum P.I. would bring tears to my eyes.
But when Higgins and Magnum brought Sarah to meet Henry at his house, it was an incredibly emotional and heartwarming moment that had me reaching for the tissues.
Higgins and Magnum could have walked away after the caretaker was arrested since the case was closed.
But they went above and beyond to make a happy ending happen for Henry.
A simple act of kindness that changed two people's lives for the better.
TC and Rick found themselves in a similar situation.
They didn't have to go back and talk to Shammy after leaving the convenience store.
But their simple act of kindness gave the fellow vet an opportunity for a better life than he was living.
You know, we ended up in Hawaii because of our friend Nuzzo. When we got back he had this great idea that we all move to paradise. I tried to go home to Chicago first, but it only lasted a couple weeks. I couldn't handle it. It wasn't until I got here -- it's not this paradise, or the perfect weather, or any of it because home, it's not a where, it's a who.

He had a lot of guilt about what happened in the war, and that was the reason he tried to drown himself when he went surfing with the guys.
TC and Rick were understandably upset, almost feeling betrayed that Shammy ruined their good time.
But after hearing his story, they took a step back and realized they could do more than just criticize and lecture.
They could make a difference, and they did.
Shammy was surprised at TC's offer to work at his touring company.
He didn't necessarily have the skills to work on helicopters, but he was willing to give it a try.
Once again, a simple act of kindness made someone's day -- and life -- a little better and brighter.
If there's a lesson to be learned from "Death is Only Temporary" it's that we all have opportunities in our daily lives to make a difference whether it's with someone we know or a stranger.
We can all be White Knights just like Magnum!
A simple smile or a kind word or deed just might turn someone's life around.
We should all give it a try sometime!
