Strike Back: Ending After Seven Seasons!

Cinemax has confirmed the fate of high-octane drama, Strike Back, and the news is good and bad.

The cabler has renewed the drama series for a seventh and final season, slated to air in 2020.

Strike Back Season 6 is currently airing, so this is an early renewal for one last drama-filled season.

As Cinemax's first drama series, it makes sense that the cabler would want it to conclude on the right terms.

There's no word yet on whether the show could return again down the line, but given that it once ended in 2015 before being revived over a year later, we shouldn't rule it out.

Strike Back has never been a heavy hitter in the ratings with the current season averaging 0.1 million viewers and a 0.02 rating in the demo.

“Strike Back established Cinemax as a destination for adrenalized, entertaining action series nearly a decade ago,” network programming chief Kary Antholis said in a statement.

“It is with sincere gratitude for the service of all of the past and present members of Section 20 — both in front of and behind the camera — that we send the team off on one last mission to save the world from annihilation.”

Showrunner Jack Lothian added, “I am delighted we’re coming back for a final season. Strike Back is a show that’s always raised the bar for small-screen action, and we’re looking forward to doing that one last time."

"There are plenty of twists and turns ahead, but I can promise one thing – we’re going out with a bang.”

The cast of Strike Back‘s current sixth season includes Warren Brown, Daniel MacPherson, Alin Sumarwata, Jamie Bamber, Yasemin Kay Allen, and Varada Sethu.
