Since Cleopatra has seemingly been shifted around for the past 75 years, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that her sarcophagus hasn't been found within the past month.

So it was more false starts and action on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 4.

Sure, thanks to Indiana Jones, and all the long-ago serials that inspired him, there's very little that's new and original about Blood & Treasure.

But that still doesn't mean it can't be escapist, breezy, summer fun. And so far, so good on that front.

What's great about it is that, even though it's very serial, it's possible for a new viewer to jump in anytime and catch up.

Our heroes (Danny and Lexi) pursue answers, while dogged by a villain (Farouk) and hindered by a shadowy organization (the Brotherhood).

So it's not a difficult framework for anyone to follow.

Every episode, Danny and Lexi, aided by Father Chuck and the treasure trove that is The Vatican, unearth another piece of the puzzle.

So the photo of Nazis standing in front of Cleopatra's sarcophagus which Lexi recovered on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 3 led, indirectly, to a couple more stops on Cleopatra's underground railroad.

Lexi even got to see Farouk, against whom she was seeking revenge for the death of her father, face to face for, what, a minute or two.

She also got to find out that he had no idea who she was until she told him her name, and that he was more than happy to shove her down an elevator shaft when she wouldn't give him any information.

I have to call foul on Farouk catching up with Danny and Lexi that easily. Are we to believe that his henchman Omar found out from the old lady who had been present in the picture exactly where the Nazis had moved Cleopatra in the midst of a chaotic bombing?

Anyhow, it was a long journey to get to that point, and that wasn't even the most farfetched moment of this episode. It was up there, though.

I do buy that the Brotherhood of Cerebus can keep up with the couple's every move, since the Italian Captain Fabi is a member of that organization and he's right in the midst of the investigation.

So while they were suspicious of the Egyptian Asim until he got killed off protecting Lexi on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 3, they should have been more worried about with whom they were working closely.

Not that they had any choice. They're guests in Italy and he is local law enforcement. Bad break, that.

The best parts of any episode have been when Danny and Father Chuck get together and reminisce about their early lives in Bawston.

And kudos for including a fond reference to the "Airplane" movies, some of the best dumb comedies of all time.

(Surely, you can't be serious. I am serious. And stop calling me Shirley.)

But I digress.

It's great that Chuck and Lexi are bonding, even if it is over making fun of Danny. I think he's figured out that she still loves Danny, even if Danny and Lexi can't admit that to each other. Yet.

If they keep getting thrown together in intimate spaces, that's bound to change, later rather than sooner.

Chuck has also become an invaluable resource. With access to that compendium of the obscure, the Vatican library, Chuck has become their go-to guy when it comes to decoding old messages.

So far, he's smartly stayed out of the field, at his base of operations. No skulking through Nazi relics for him.

There remains so many underutilized characters/groups.

The Brotherhood is coming more into view. So far, it's been Fabi and his handler.

But now two of the Brotherhood have abducted Lexi. So maybe we'll get to find out more about their mission through her.

Because I'm frankly fuzzy about whether they already have Cleopatra or if they're trying to find her as well. Are they good guys or bad guys, or somewhere in between?

How about Gwen, the Interpol agent? All we've learned about her is that she and Danny worked together previously and that she's ferocious in a fight.

Then there's Simon Hardwick. We finally got his backstory, and he surely owes Danny a debt of gratitude for rescuing him from Farouk five years ago.

But he's a weasel. Is he also working for the Brotherhood, or Farouk, as unlikely as that seems? Or is he just a garden-variety opportunist?

He obviously knows more than he's telling.

Also falling in that category is Anna Castillo, Danny's former mentor. She seems to be on the side of the angels, but what does she know that can help out with this mystery?

Finally, what's the deal with Danny's benefactor, Jay Reece, who set this all in motion? Why is he so invested, financially and emotionally, in this crusade?

The only certain innocent in this series is Danny, who actually seems concerned with preserving these antiquities, not profiting from them. That, and he's carrying a ton of Catholic guilt around with him.

So stop back next Tuesday for another game of "Where in the World is Cleopatra?" Because it's not a contest that's ending anytime soon.
