Wynonna Earp Set to Begin Production as Series is Saved!!

Three cheers for Syfy and the Canadian network Space!

Thanks to their ponying up more money for the much-beloved Wynonna Earp, it will rise again!

That's right, the Emily Andras favorite that has spawned Earpers all over the world is now set for a 2020 debut.

The production for Wynonna Earp Season 4 was supposed to start months ago, but a hiccup in the funding from producers IDW Entertainment nearly forced the end of the series.

The delay means they have to round up the cast again for new deals, as their options expired during the downtime.

Happy! and Deadly Class Canceled at Syfy

Given the talent involved and their love for the western-themed supernatural show, I have faith they'll all find a way to get back to business.

If you're wondering why Syfy didn't just forge ahead with the production finances be damned, well, they don't own the rights to the franchise.

The Beau Smith comics-based series falls under the jurisprudence of IDW, so if they bailed, it was all over.

IDW's other TV credits include the upcoming Netflix series Locke & Key and V-Wars.

The Magicians: Renewed for Season 5!

They've partnered with Cineflix Studios as an Earp co-producer, and Cineflix Rights will sell all four of the seasons internationally.

As the lack of international sales was one of the stumbling blocks to funding Wynonna Earp, that is a vote of confidence for the continuation of the series.

“Wynonna Earp – the series, the comics, the characters, the story, and the fans are all deeply important to IDW, so we are thrilled to be able to continue to tell the Wynonna story,” said Lydia Antonini, President, IDW Entertainment.

“From the very beginning, the fans have embraced the series and have transformed their passion into an inclusive community built upon empathy and support, as well as whiskey and donuts.

"We are grateful to have partners who were able to help us bring it back for a fourth season so that we can continue to serve the dedicated Earpers, and entertain fans everywhere

Z Nation Canceled at Syfy After Five Seasons!

Syfy long ago gave the green light to Wynonna Earp Season 5, so as long as everything recently put into place goes according to plan, IDW should deliver.

That would mean two more seasons lie ahead, making the suffering of the two-year gap between Wynonna Earp Season 3 and 4 sting just a little less.

"Syfy has never wavered in its support of Wynonna Earp, a unique and important series with some of the most passionate fans anywhere.

"To our Earper friends: Thank you for your patience and faith as we worked with our partners to ensure that Wynonna can get back to where it belongs … on Syfy,” the network said in a statement Tuesday.

Nightflyers Canceled at Syfy

"We are absolutely thrilled that we get to make more Wynonna Earp, and are grateful to our networks and partners for working hard to ensure we can,” showrunner Emily Andras said.

“This is an enormous testament to our passionate and fierce fans, the Earpers, who remind us every day how to fight like hell for the things you love with wit, ferocity, and kindness.”
