Secrets and lies always come out in Salem.

And when they do, the resulting fireworks are spectacular.

On Days of Our Lives during the week of 12-9-19, Eli stumbles upon a major secret, and he's not the only one.

The Days of Our Lives spoiler video suggests Eli is surprised and shocked when he comes to face-to-face with Lani in the convent, delivering what might be one of the funnier lines in recent Days of Our Lives history.

It remains to be seen how this affects Lani's plans to take her final vows and cloister herself forever.

Kristen has been imploring her to tell Eli the truth about why she dumped him at the altar, but will she? 

Spoilers also say that Lani is shocked to learn Eli has hooked up with her nemesis, so it's anyone's guess what'll happen next.

Lani isn't the only one to come face-to-face with her past, as the spoiler video also features JJ getting ready to shoot Kristen in the head.

The writers have been steadily ruining JJ's character since the time jump, but they wouldn't go so far as to make him into a murderer, would they?

JJ nearly committed suicide after accidentally shooting Theo, so even going this far should make it hard for him to live with himself.

Will this be the wake-up call he needs to dump the pills and get help dealing with Haley's death?

Abigail brings Jennifer to the scene of the crime to jog her memory.

Jennifer has been saying for weeks that the idea of Eve being the one who pushed her doesn't feel right, and on Friday she had a flash of memory.

Taking her back to the scene of the crime could be traumatic, though.

But hopefully, it sparks something. The sooner Princess Gina is found out, the better.

Lani is stunned to learn Eli is in a relationship with Gabi.

If Lani had told Eli the truth in the first place, they'd be married and Gabi would likely be behind bars.

But since she gave in to Gabi's blackmail, she opened the door for her archenemy to worm her way into Eli's life.

Hopefully, learning that will be the final straw and Lani will finally tell Eli the whole story.

But given Lani's cowardice throughout this entire story, that isn't a given. And Eli may not believe her even if she does tell him the truth at this late date.

Lani tries to talk JJ down to spare Kristen's life.

My, how the tables have turned.

Back in December 2018, Gabi talked JJ out of suicide while a jealous Lani assumed they were together, leading to her sleeping with Eli.

Now it's Lani's turn to talk JJ down out of a murderous rage.

As much as Lani/JJ were a horrible idea for a couple, Lani needs to be successful here. JJ's character has been destroyed enough without turning him into a murderer.

Kate's secret is revealed.

Kate has a secret?

Of course she does. This is Kate Roberts-Dimera we're talking about, after all.

The writers have done a good job with this one. There have been no clues so far as to what Kate has been up to, other than leaving Titan to become a waitress.

There have been persistent rumors that someone switched Sarah and Kristen's baby and Sarah's baby was the one that died. Could Kate have been involved in such a thing?

Eric and Sarah receive upsetting news about baby Mickey.

A fever is never just a fever in Salem.

According to Soap Opera Digest, baby Mickey has cancer.

If done well, a sick child storyline can be compelling, but most likely this is a plot point to bring Sarah and Eric closer together and leave Xander out in the cold.

How cruel.  I hope Xander strikes back.  He could get Victor to find a specialist and demand he is allowed to help care for Mickey in exchange for giving the referral to Sarah and Eric.

Ben informs Ciara that his legal situation just got worse.

Maybe that guard was in Clyde's pocket after all.

Clyde wouldn't be above having a guard plant evidence to get Ben put in solitary and/or new charges filed against him.

Whatever the case is, this jail story has run its course and needs to go sooner rather than later.

Kate blasts Sonny when she learns he shared a kiss with Evan.

Anyone NOT see this coming?

Sonny getting closer to Evan can only mean one thing: Will is coming home soon.

All of the Will/Sonny/Interloper stories end up the same way: Sonny moves on, then Will comes back into his life.

But Kate putting her two cents in should be fun anyway.

Feeling the pressure, "Hope" makes plans to flee Salem.

The walls are closing in on Gina now that Jennifer is starting to remember and Abigail is investigating her case.

Running away won't help anything, though. It'll just leave Salem PD without a commissioner until Eli comes to his senses and retakes the job.

The question is how Salem can get rid of Gina and get the real Hope back.

Jack and Jennifer share a little romance after he brings her home from the hospital.

Yay! Jennifer is finally getting out of the hospital.

Real romance is in short supply, too, and Jack always comes up with big ideas.

His idea of a little romance might be everyone else's idea of extravangance. 

Chad helps Abigail investigate what happened to her mother.

As Abigail gets closer to the truth, she apparently needs her husband's help.

Could this mean that she's onto the Gina/Rolf connection to Jennifer's fall?

And will Chad be willing to exploit his connection with Stefano to try to get to the truth?
