Fans of Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. might be getting their wish.
Deadline reports that the father and son have teamed up to headline an untitled CBS sitcom.
The series is co-written by Damon Wayans and Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing).
The project follows a “legendary talk radio host” called “Poppa” who has to try and force his adult son—“who has all his charm and none of his drive”—to grow up.
It's a compelling set-up, and if it means we get to see both stars working together on a more regular basis, we are so in.
They previously played father and son on Happy Endings and Happy Together, but those were only short-term team-ups.
Wayans co-created and starred in the ABC comedy My Wife and Kids, which aired from 2001-05.
Wayans Jr. made his acting debut on the series with a recurring role.
He subsequently starred in the aforementioned Happy Endings and Happy Together, as well as New Girl.
CBS is already home to comedies Ghosts, Young Sheldon, The Neighborhood, and Bob Hearts Abishola.
The network's comedy roster got off to a solid start this season, with most of the shows picking up close to their spring averages.
There will understandably be excitement from fans of the stars about the pair having proven themselves as excellent comedians throughout the years.
Wayans most recently appeared on Live in Front of a Studio Audience for stagings of Different Strokes and The Facts of Life.
He is attached to star in the 2023 movie Cinnamon.
His son is set to star in the upcoming movie Players. His most recent TV credit is as host of the game show Frogger.
