This young hunk is best friends with Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr) and the big brother of Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen).
Dan Humphrey has been head over heels in love with socialite Serena van der Woodsen for many years, and finally snagged his dream girl in the first season of Gossip Girl.
The adorable pair soon began dating and - after some initial difficulties - made love for the first time on Christmas.
However, their differences in social class - as well as her shady past and characters like Georgina Sparks - have driven them back apart.
An aspiring writer and fairly straight-arrow guy with a good heart and morals, Dan maintains his close relationship with his sister, Jenny and his father Rufus. He does not really fit in with Nate or Chuck, though he and the former seem to get along better than he does with the latter.

Omg. I hate Dan. He acts like his life sucks and believes that being poor is the excuse to everything. Plus after sleeping with Serena, sex is nothing to him. He just goes around doing whatever now(like doing it with a teacher). Ugh. I swear if Dan ends up with Serena or Blair, then ima throw up. -___-

why the f*ck do people think that just because dan judges serena he isn't right for her???? are you kidding? relationships don't work unless both people can see the faults in eachother. and uh, fyi, the only time i remember nate and serena NOT fighting was when they were having sex...dan is flawed like any other character, but he is one the best characters on the show, who only intellectual people can appreciate.

Yeah, I hate him too. He's so quick to judge Serena etc, but he's not perfect at all. Nate knows Serena best, and he doesn't judge her like Dan does. Sure Dan and Serena are complete opposites and opposites attract, but Dan is just an @sshole and I hate him!
Nate and Serena are just a better match.

I HATE dan! he is the worst characteer i hate him i hate him!! serena deserves waay better than thiis, I dont care if he is poor but he is horrible and he thinks he is gorgeous and he is with a lot of women, aaaaaaaaaaaa i just hate hiim, I hope he disappears from gossip girl, i hate to see him
