Lyla Garrity

Bio

Lyla Garrity is the former girlfriend (and fianc�e) of Jason Street and also a former Dillon Panthers cheerleader.

With Jason Street looking at extensive rehab after a catastrophic injury, Lyla dealt with great emotional conflict - the gist of which was staying with Jason, who she loves dearly, but will never be the same, or moving on.

Lyla then cheated on Jason with his best friend, Tim Riggins, an affair Jason Street found out about and was (understandably) irate over. With time, he did forgive both of them, however - getting gradually closer, and even engaged to Lyla, while reconnecting with Tim later in the season.

Despite their engagement, it was Jason who ultimately broke up with Lyla, deciding that their lives were moving in different directions. Despite their love for each other, both are pondering their own futures at this time and continuing a relationship just wasn't working.

Lyla also took considerable flak from the student body after her affair with Tim became public knowledge, leading her to quit the cheerleading squad. However, she regrouped and emerged by the end of the year as a confident, independent young woman once again.

Her father is Buddy Garrity, owner of a local car dealership and the Dillon Panthers' biggest booster. Buddy was tossed out by his wife for having a fling with Tyra Collette's mother, straining his once-close relationship with Lyla and adding to her growing list of problems.
