Tim Riggins is the fullback of the Dillon Panthers.
Tim is best known as (formerly) the best friend of Jason Street, who fell in love with Jason's girlfriend, Lyla Garrity, and had an affair with her shortly after Jason was paralyzed from the waist down.
Despite a lengthy, bitter rift between himself and Jason over this liaison, the two have reconnected and remain close. Bonding over beers on a memorable night on the football field toward the end of the year appeared to seal the rekindled friendship between Tim and Jason... or at least a cease-fire.
Sullen and morose, and with a penchant for drinking, yet very serious when it comes to football, Riggins is the silent backbone of the Dillon Panthers football team.
The ex-girlfriend of Tyra Collette, he has difficulty with schoolwork and there is a suggestion that he may be illiterate. Tim Riggins lives with his older brother Billy after their parents skipped out on them.
Towards the end of the season, he befriends his neighbor, a single mother with a young son who becomes his biggest fan. Tim begins a relationship with the mother while remaining the idol of her son, Bo.
