  1. Gossip Girl Review: A Dair Affair

    @Kimmie

    Dude. Gross. PB shave his chest? He looks a lot better with a hairy chest. It adds on to his ruggedness; plus Nate and Chuck have shaved chests. Let's go with something different here. Heh.

    But personal preference aside, television these days seem to trend to anti-chest hair whenever well-bodied men are half-naked on screen. PB had to shave his chest for Easy A and nearly every movie he has done without a shirt on-screen.
  2. Grey's Anatomy Review: "Not Responsible"

    @Simriti,

    Time is moving faster in the GA-universe as of season six. Seasons 1-3 comprised of 1 year, seasons 4-5 comprised of the 2nd year, season 6 is the 3rd year, and season 7 is the 4th year of the show, hence why Meredith, Alex, and Cristina are 4th-year residents. Lexie said she was 24 in season 4, and now she's 27 when technically speaking, only two years have passed. However, what most likely accounts for this is that Lexie was probably closer to 25 when she told Mark her age. Maybe she had three to five months till she was 25, but she was still 24 and turned 25 by the time season 5 closed. So when time became accelerated to fit a year within a season, it became possible for Lexie to be 27 when season 7 came around. Also, the Grey's Anatomy year includes two years: August of the current year to July to the next, given that most residency programs start in July and that's when Bailey was promoted to an attending. At the end of season six and the start of season seven is when Bailey had been an attending for a year. So what she told Chief was accurate, and to emphasis that a first year general surgery attending should not be looking for what's wrong with Adele.

    Hope this helps.
  3. Gossip Girl Review: A Dair Affair

    I said it before, and I'll say it again: Dan and Blair make for very watchable and captivating television. They make the show interesting and revitalize new life into GG that had fallen to complacency and stagnated to barely watchable.

    Dan and Blair? Four seasons into the making! Four years of intrigue, and fighting, and chemistry that has that classic GG-payoff: cliffhanger. This is what makes for dynamic interaction, and no one, together, is perhaps more entertainingly dynamic than that of the witty repertoire of Dan-Blair vernacular.

    Yes, yes, those that vehemently stronghold the sacred unions of Dan/Serena and Chuck/Blair are equally vehement in their opposition of a Dan and Blair union, and perhaps in the long run, their favored unions are destined and meant to be. However, time and again has shown us that such unions are catastrophic and simply cannot co-exist.. at least for now. All four require time apart to firmly place their footing in the world and within one another to find themselves belonging right back to what separated them in the first place. They're not ready for each other right now. However, Dan and Blair are. Four years of being apart and finding themselves and their identities without getting lost in the whirlwinds of Serena and Chuck perspectively gives gravitas to their union. Where Dan and Blair are concerened: they know who they are, especially with each other; it is a rare epiphany given their experiences with their former loves.

    But even if Dan and Blair are a detour to the highway of destined couples, at least it'll offer all four valued perspective.

    And hell, it'll keep me tuned every week... even if I have to wait 'till April.
  4. Gossip Girl Review: A Dair Affair

    Ugh. Vanessa. The mere mention of her name brings up such disgust.

    It seems Vanessa enjoys her time as the outsider and continues cry out victim yet surreptitiously scheme to further her own agenda. Really Vanessa? You're the victim? You're the sad little outsider who never gets accepted?

    Perhaps if she put in the effort of actually "being" in the group than feeling like "an outsider pushing her way in" all while cavorting with frenemy a-like, perhaps then she could earn her place. But by selling people out to cover her own hide, especially the sister of the man she so desperately covets, perhaps logical processes somehow fail in this complicated mess she so willingly puts herself in.

    Vanessa: she wasn't missed the four or five consecutive episode her face did not grace the screen. So either she makes herself actually redeemable or return to obscurity.
  5. Gossip Girl Review: A Dair Affair

    Serena: the eternal flip-flopper. At least Chuck has cause to rightfully pursue Blair once the news of the "ever life-shattering kiss" hits the online waves of Gossip Girl, but for Serena to pursue Dan after all this time?

    Seriously S? Seriously?

    I think Serena above all people would have the understanding that Dan needs to see other people, perhaps a Waldorf to gain perspective. Dan has always been a viable candidate, and so some reason, Serena finds herself "testing" Dan over and over and over and over again like some rag doll, or better aptly put, a doormat. Given this confession by S herself, the Dan/Serena relationship is equated to two words that so captures the essence of Daniel Humphrey in his relationship with Serena: emotionally battered. Because like emotionally battered individuals, they keep coming back for more.

    Glutton for punishment? I think so, so hopefully, Serena, is for once not indulged into her own world, and lets Dan find sanctuary, at least for a little while before the carousel ride that is Dan and Serena begins anew.
  6. Gossip Girl Review: A Dair Affair

    Nate's a slimball. Where is his loyalty? He didn't even look a tad bit remorseful when Chuck found out. He takes in the cold comfort that Raina wanted nothing to do with Chuck; what happened to principle? What happened to honor?

    Is Nathaniel Archibald completely devoid of all such things? I'm glad that Chuck focused on the plan in motion despite the metaphoric blade in his shoulder.

    Yes, perhaps Chuck did not so deeply feel the sting of young Archer's blade pressed upon back, but that does not make Nate any better. Even when Raina gave him cause to pursue their relationship on better terms, Nate has a sorry ass demeanor when his feigned revelation is forced by Chuck's hand.

    Really Nate? Really? Slimball.
  7. Modern Family Review: A Not So Happy Valenbirthuhhhversary...

    I thought Hayley's performance was the more breakout one as she faked her employment. Everything else was decent for a sitcom, however, a bit sub parr for MF's standards.
  8. Who is Returning to True Blood?

    YES!! Godric rocks! Hopefully it'll be more of an extended flashback then a brief appearance.
  9. Glee Review: Drinking, Vomiting, Tik Toking...

    Dude, how much am I loving Burt more and more? For a guy that still considers himself completely in the dark regarding parenting a gay teen, I think he's doing a great job.

    It was excellent that he shot down the gay aspect of Kurt's argument. Burt has the same rules if Finn had Quinn or Rachel sleep over. I think Kurt, for the most part, was deflecting his anger and frustration on Blaine onto his dad. All he heard was "You're gay and it's inappropriate and you should apologize for being gay," when Burt's actual message was, "It's inappropriate to have a potential sexual partner in my house without my permission. You should apologize for that."

    Because seriously Kurt, had he had Mike or Artie sleep over, his dad would not have any issue.
  10. Gossip Girl Promos: "Empire of the Son"

    Chuck and Blair are like the overdramatized unnecessary bickering over the top versions of Ross and Rachel: meant to be, will end up together. However, they're clearly not right for each other right now. As are Serena and Dan. That girl seems to be the eternal flip flopper: Dan then Nate, Nate then Dan, back to Dan and then Nate, Nate then Dan, oh let's throw Ben in the mix.

    Yes, DS and CB are great together, but the constant battle that those two couples go through makes for boring TV because it's been done over and over and over and over again. Nearing the end of fourth season, the whole "will they" "won't they" questions become brokens record and remain stale.

    DB makes for interesting TV because in its four years, it has never experimented with this couple. It's refreshing and new, which is rare on the status-quo drift that's taken a sleep-inducing grip on the show.

    Dan and Blair won't last, but while the writers are building them up, they'll have plenty new material tearing them down, and perhaps they'll serve as a catalyst to finally get Chuck's and Serena's head straight.
  11. Grey's Anatomy Caption Contest 249

    Mer: "Ow... ow!"
    Cristina: "Oh.. am I hurting you?"
    Mer: "No.. you're touching me.."
    Cristina: "Heal with love remember?"
  12. Grey's Anatomy Review: "Golden Hour"

    @Smriti

    Yes! I'm so glad you brought up Bonnie. I thought of her as well when Meredith wanted to do more, but Mer showed real signs of growth and maturity by not pushing it and accepting that they had done all they could to try to save him.

    Also, the most obvious linkage to the classic GA is Moe Irvin. This is his first on-screen appearance in season 7 as Nurse Tyler. I'm glad that he wasn't canned during the merger or wasn't killed during Clark's gun-rampage.
  13. Gossip Girl Promos: "Empire of the Son"

    I'm actually a big fan of this union. I think the writers did a good job slowly setting this up and letting the characters flesh each other out in their own pacing so this comes off as organic as possible rather than just another plot ploy.

    I think Dan and Blair would actually work out, if at least, for the short term. Physically, they look better than Chuck and Blair, and they have that kind of back and forth that doesen't amount to world wide Chair-devestation.

    Can't wait how this plays out...
  14. Grey's Anatomy Episode Preview: I Can't See ...

    @Anfulas

    Right?! Ugh. Previews from the next episodes show more of the ugly scrub cap.

    :(
  15. Glee Spoilers: Hope for Blaine and Kurt?

    If RM makes Blaine interested in both sexes, he once again shows that RM has extremely difficulties maintaining continunity. Blaine said it himself when Kurt first went over to Dalton, "I'm gay." Gay.. not bi.

    Next week's promo shows him kissing Rachel during a game of kiss and tell. Hopefully it's just that: a kiss and nothing more.
  16. Kathy Griffin and Loretta Devine to Guest Star on Glee

    Awe. I'm sure LD will do great, but it's kind of hard to see her as anyone other than Adele Webber.
  17. Grey's Anatomy Review: "Golden Hour"

    With respect to JCap, she was a guest star intended only to appear in three episodes before the latter half of season 5, and Shonda promoted her to a full recurring status. She was then promoted to a series regular the next season, so I'm sure the GA-staff utterly respects JCap's talents. Also, given that Jessica was a new addition to the principal cast, other than PD, she was the only one to have a character-focused episode in Season 6. She rocked that one.

    And with KM? He directed "Don't Deceive Me," which I think he did an incredible job. The only other cast member to try their hands on directing is CW, and both succeeded with flying colors.

    KM, JCap, and SR are ridiciously happy on the set of GA and despite whatever drama KH, TRK, and IW had is over and done with. Just because SR appeared in two scenes in Golden Hour is cause for her to leave the show and feel as if her talents are wasted a la KH? Even Grey Matters stated that there hasn't been a purely focused Mer episode, and seven seasons and 100+ episodes later, having one isn't going to kill the SR and JCap fans.

    Chillax guys.
  18. Grey's Anatomy Episode Preview: I Can't See ...

    Given the fact that one of her best friends died, another barely beat cancer, and the threat of early onset Alzheimer's, waiting isn't exactly an option for Meredith.

    And also, Meredith isn't in the middle of her residency, she's almost nearing the end of it. She'll be a fifth year surg resident by the end of this season and beginning of the next and then she's done. Like with Bailey, at the end of her fifth year, Webber promoted her to a general surgery attending. Unless Mer elects neurosurgery instead of general surgery as a surgical specialty, then Meredith's hours will decrease as an attending.

    Plus, Bailey was a 4th year resident when she got pregnant and was a parent when she was Chief Resident in her fifth. She made it work, and I'm sure Derek and Meredith can make it work as well. Tucker didn't understand the demands of surgeon, but since Mer and Derek are both surgeons, they'll have a better chance to make it work.
  19. Grey's Anatomy Episode Preview: I Can't See ...

    @ Me 2.0

    I don't think it's OOC of Mer to want kids. If you're going by seasons 1 to 3, Mer was suicidal and a commitment-phobe. That was Meredith Grey, but I think as the years have passed, Meredith's grown and become all whole and healed. She's following Ellis' advice to be extraordinary.

    And plus she's seen, first hand, what happens when you sacrifice love for surgery: Ellis is a two-time Harper Avery recipient, a renown general surgeon, a pioneer in laprascopic methodology, and curing diabetes from the grave? All that success and Ellis still died alone.

    Mer? She wants to bridge the gap, be extraordinary. Being married and wanting babies, it's not OOC, it's Meredith growing up. She said so herself when she was consoling Alex, "and then we grew up and got married."
  20. Grey's Anatomy Episode Preview: I Can't See ...

    Is it just me or is Derek's scrub cap ugly? Where's the ferryboat scrub cap? He loves ferryboats.
  21. Grey's Anatomy Caption Contest 249

    Meredith: You sure this will work to get me pregnant?
    Cristina: Yes. It's Korean magic: wax on, wax off.
  22. Grey's Anatomy Musical: A Callie Hallucination?

    @Bazuka74

    And that's your opinion, which you are entitled to. I think EP looks great for age regardless of what you think, but then that's my opinion. Doesn't make me wrong, it doesn't make you right: it's just our opinions.

    Look at JC, from season 1 to season 7, he's aged and filled out, but he's aged well as has all of them, and IMO, so has EP. Look at JP and SB, I can't tell they've aged a day.
  23. Grey's Anatomy Musical: A Callie Hallucination?

    @Anfulas

    HA! I just replayed PYT on Hulu with subtitles, and she did say several. It sounded, at least to me, like seven when it first aired. But you're right. I didn't take Callie's pregnancy into account. But the point I was making was that perhaps Shonda is making time pass more quickly in the latter seasons to bridge the gap between in-canon and actual time.

    Remember back in Season 1 and 2? Some episodes were days or even a couple weeks apart; now between the episode the trial episode and PYT, it's been several months.

    Awesome catch!
  24. Will Jackson Find Love on Grey's Anatomy?

    I think Jackson should be single, at least for awhlie: he seems to be floundering surgery-wise. He needs to focus. He burned his bridge with Robbins when he calls peds surgery babysitting. He's not doing so well in trauma. I can see him in gen surg, but I don't know, I think his place in plastics will do him well.

    I can see Jackson with Lexie, but she'll never see him that way as she is truly in love with Mark. Hmm... maybe he'll do a 180 and end up with Walter. LOL (Joe's bf)
  25. Will Jackson Find Love on Grey's Anatomy?

    I can't see Jackson with April. I think Jackson and April have that best friend thing going on like George and Izzie had sans the sex thing - he sees her more of a sister, and by the way Jackson punched the hell out of Alex, I'm quite sure she sees him like a big brother.
