Jane's greatest fear is whether or not he has gotten rid of the real killer of his family. Jane is well aware of all the tricks used by Red John and this is eerily similar. This is the 3rd and final show down. If Gabriel was not working with the killer, I think Jane will be smart enough to leave Gabriel to the mysteries of life. It will be equivalent to Jane knowing the bartender's name started with an A but never knowing what her name is. If Jane is right then it proves to him that it really is all over and he can move on. If he is wrong this matter will be resolved once and for all. Either way it goes this case will release Jane once and for all. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were somethings Gabriel shouldn't have known and that's why Jane said he didn't know what Gabriel was. Gabriel's presence was testing Jane's position on his core beliefs. For Jane, Gabriel can not be real because if he is then Jane would be wrong about what he believes most. If Gabriel is fake, he must be with the killer. Since Jane couldn't prove that he asked for a prediction? Gabriel's prediction, the cure would come with the number 3? A 3 legged dog, 3 games left to play on the pinball machine and the woman with 3 children? Is this really that common of an occurrence? That why Jane was talking to himself about it. "You are trying to impress me with the number 3". This is also why he got drunk. Gabriel put Jane in limbo. If its not a trick, then it's real and it puts Jane in turmoil mentally. It basically sets up the notion for Jane that he doesn't know everything and that the world is not a place to be seen merely in black or white terms. That the gray area can not be manipulated and now Jane has to catch the killer to prove he is right for the sake of his own sanity. The resolution of this case will bring the cure for Jane.
They have a lot of great characters to chose from. What I thought was interesting was the fact that they showed Gabriel's foot. It could be indicating that one or both of the men who died in the bomb blast are still alive. Remember the foot that was left behind. I would love to see Haffner, styles or Kirkland for an ending. What I find interesting is that the serial killer has been killing in Austin for about a year. Jane has been there about a year. Is this just another coincidence? Still more interesting is the fact that Gabriel came to the FBI where Jane works and not the local police, why? I have a funny feeling that if they do play it this way, Lisbon will be the one who kills him.
I'm with you on the family thing Rationalgal. It seems totally odd that we knew about everybody else's family except for Jane. Why all the mystery about it? Next thing, having Gabriel hanging there at the end of this episode with fake written on him took me right back to the pilot and the letter on the door for Jane. Then we have a foot exposed with the blood just stopping short of hitting the toenails. Hummmm? Is this all a coincidence or are we seeing the emergence of the original serial killer who's disciples were Thomas McAllister and Timothy Carter? I know one thing for sure. Either this is that or its just bate. Either way, I'm in!
As for Lisbon and Jane, those two have been really irksome. Mostly Jane, in my opinion. Lisbon has been nothing but supportive of Jane. I don't think she needs to give everything she is away to Jane or for Jane's love. He has been so self absorbed that it feels like he has been dragging Lisbon down a black hole. Lisbon has accepted Jane hook line and sinker. Jane needs to respect and do the same thing for Lisbon. He seems to be the one not accepting what Lisbon is, no matter how its being disguised. This is why Lisbon took the stand she took. This is her life and who she is as a person. She is not what Jane wants or is trying to make her be. He has to fit into her life like she fits into his. This time, its not just about Jane. Lisbon never needed Jane's protection. It has always been the other way around. His ego, testosterone and endorphins jumping all over the place, will not ever change that fact. Lisbon accepted everything about Jane now Jane needs to except everything about himself. Frankly, the way he tried to treat Lisbon in this episode was nasty. However, Lisbon let him know that when she gets tired of his bullshit she will yank his chain. That's why he said, "that's funny" and it is the same reason he is marrying her.

I think I'm a little bit psychic! I saw all this coming! This was a great episode. To me, this is the stuff the mentalist is made of. I knew they had to come back to the mystery. Jane did that RED JOHN sway when he was looking at the body. This episode, Gabriel and the style of his death along with the fact that its a serial killer, questions the validity of Jane's intelligence / belief system and his course of actions throughout the series. All the bodies that were shown shows that the murders were recent. It indicates that there is a possibility that the killer may have moved to Austin from somewhere else. Then there's the number 3 and what Gabriel said about it. Jane has killed 2 Red John's, is this number 3. Will 3 now be the charm? This is what Jane has always doubted all along. DID HE REALLY KILL THE REAL KILLER OF HIS FAMILY? RED JOHN, Thomas McAllister was the real RED JOHN but not the master mind behind it. In order for this mystery to close properly, it has to resolve the initial mystery which it hasn't done. Now we are coming full circle with the same type of mystery. This time with no symbols except for the tiny psychological dismissable remnants of his decade long chase of Red John. What I like about this is, if Jane tries to bring it up, he will look like a total madman. I hope they go this way, it could be the reason why they put Jane and Lisbon's marriage up front the way they did. I think they just might pull this off!
Check out KDrama stars.
Still thinking..............! They could kill Jane, Lisbon or both of them. That would be messed up but still shocking. I think I hit all the shocking scenarios. Can anyone think of any other shocking scenarios? Wait, wait, wait! Cho is RED JOHN! I'm done, I'm beginning to drop off the edge! It's a residual effect from the last 6 seasons, SORRY!
Nothing like getting the finger in the end, huh? That was pretty funny! That would be a shocker and pretty despicable too. I'm want to throw this in, they said That Jane and Lisbon would never get together, BUT HERE WE ARE! So I'm going to take a STAB at this. Whatever it is will probably be about RED JOHN. Leave the end of the series as a cliffhanger. So that our minds can wander forever! I would actually get a kick out of that and it would be rather poetic. A good ending now would be to make it as mysterious as it began. There'd be some buzzing about that! That would be a fun out for me. It wouldn't shock me if someone got shot, pregnant, married, killed or caught being dirty. The last thing that would shock me would be if Jane and Lisbon just parted ways at the end of the series, realizing that while they love and are in love with each other, that they are too different to pull off the relationship. OR.........! Jane is still in the mental institution, it all been pretty fantastical anyway. 5 EPISODES LEFT!
Ok, now its starting to come together! Bosco, a man on his death bed would not care about some trivial relationship that Lisbon was in. He was moments away from dying when he asked to speak to Jane. Bosco had to have told Jane that Lisbon was deeply in love with him and to marry her. That is why he threatened to come back and haunt Jane. Bosco gave Jane his blessing and this was no small honor. Bosco knew Lisbon didn't threaten both of their careers because Jane was a good employee. It was evident to Bosco that such a drastic threat meant more then what Lisbon was verbally conveying. He knew Lisbon would not throw away her career and possibly face a prison sentence for just anybody. Only someone in love would go this far. When Lisbon was in the car with Jane in the episode The Red Glass Bead, they were playing mind games with each other. They were talking about revealing secrets. They both knew they were in love with each other. Lisbon stopped the game because they had RED JOHN between and she knew she couldn't compete with that. Now I wonder why Lisbon is telling Jane he always knows what she thinks. She was scared to say I love you out loud because Jane has basically said they are living in the moment. All the while secretly hoping Jane will ask her to marry him. Jane told Lisbon she is messy on the inside which is and indication that he can't read her well because she is giving off to many conflicting signals. What I can deduce is that she is deeply in love with Jane and that he is the only man she has ever truly been in love with. This is why she was acting so erratically when she was dating Pike. She only dated Pike to let Jane know she could go on with her life. Lisbon didn't care about Pike, that's why she dumped him so quickly. Pike was a good man and Lisbon would have settled just to get away from Jane. She would have done it out of spite and would have been divorced as well. Pike knew what he was doing when he snatched up Lisbon so quickly. He read all the signals except for the one of pining for Jane. Lisbon told Abbott Jane knew she was leaving because he's a psychic. Abbott replied, no he's not and if you haven't told him he probably doesn't know. Now we have Lisbon awkwardly telling Jane she loves him because she is moving from her position of distrust of Jane and is willing to take a chance on him. This puts her in a vulnerable position because to absolutely release herself without knowing jane's position would crush her if they don't make it together. This way she can save a little face if they don't make it together. This is why she snapped on Jane when he asked her if she wanted him to go to Chicago with her. Yes, she wanted him to go but she also needed to protect the intricacies of her personal life. Especially from a guy hanging around for his own personal needs and reasons. This is her personal life and it is not privy to romp in the hay guys. That's why her brothers said we don't usually get to meet Lisbon's boyfriends. Lisbon shows that she is not a good communicator in relationships because of her insecurities. She wants Jane to know for sure if he wants to commit to her. She is willing to commit to Jane and has shown that by giving up everything at his request. Remember the scene on the beach at sunset. Jane hugging all over Lisbon and thanking her for everything? Remember that? Then he tells her to wait there he has something for her? Remember the look on Lisbon's face? AND THEN HE HOPS IN THE CAR AND DRIVES AWAY! I guess if I were Lisbon, I act a little shitty too!
