  1. How I Met Your Mother Review: Barney Shat First?

"Also, I don't think I'm going to be able to look at the stormtrooper in Barney's apartment without thinking that there's someone in it!"

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Great point. I won't either now!
  2. How I Met Your Mother Review: Barney Shat First?

"latinalover" TY for heads up on Barney's phone. I admit I had a little trouble keeping track of what year it was at times and should have gone back to double check the years but in my haste to get the review out ASAP I mixed up the timing of a couple references. "Rajbauer" interesting thought about Barney's hand. Did you see what I was talking about though? He was all but sitting on it while sitting next to Marshall on the couch. Just looked weird. Maybe he was just like Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights and didn't know what to do with his hands?
  3. Californication Review: Dazed and Confused

Simon...Kali being turned on by a guy who would shoot someone for her did not gel with me either. It was a total betrayal of her character. I'd love to see some more scenes featuring the rituals that go along with Hank's writing process next season. I really enjoyed the few glimpses we got like how Charlie had the glass of whiskey already waiting for him as he put the final stamp on a new script or even the scene where he helped Kali write some lyrics. I wonder how much time will have elapsed in the storyline when the next season kicks off. Will it open with Hank in the hospital or will a year or two have gone by?
  4. House of Lies Review: Imminent Demise

Jimmy the song that played during the credits is called "Coming Home" by Diddy- Dirty Money feat. Skylar Grey
  5. Shameless Review: Endings and Beginnings

Ok question though. Why did Ian seem so pressed to tell Fiona about Jimmy's dad? Did it seem to you that he and the good doctor worked out some sort of agreement? Was that a new iPhone he was brandishing? Will Fiona even care or Jimmy for that matter? He doesn't seem to give his family much thought.
  6. Shameless Review: Endings and Beginnings

Leigh you nailed it once again. I watched the last two episodes back to back last night but after Thanksgiving I was almost too full of sobering emotion that I debated not going on to the finale right away. I was very happy I did. Steve/Jimmy and Fiona were amazing. The scene where she asked him if he was going to leave and his subsequent answer made me warm inside. Speaking of warmth, when Este showed back up hysterical I was screaming NO inside as I thought she was going to ruin the reunion between the two aforementioned. I was very happy to see Lip get a snuggle with her instead to close out the episode. Lip back in school showed us that while Karen broke his heart he is ready to move on to better things. Estefania deserves a guy who isn't going to hit her and Lip deserves to have a relationship with a little less crazy in it. My MVP of the season went to Kevin who never failed to make me laugh. I worry about little Deb though. She is entering a confusing time of her life with already so much on her plate. The good thing is she has a rock in Fiona to help her through it.
  7. House of Lies Review: Imminent Demise

Agreed on both counts. I think it's the mark of a good first season is when we are left drooling for more. Next season should be amazingly entertaining and intense. They still have to delve further into Marty's mother issues. There will be the subject of his fasther's failing health to deal with as well. Do you think Marty and Jeannie hook up? There was some serious eye fukking going on there in the final scene.
  8. Californication Review: Dazed and Confused

"Josh" great comments TY. I too was hoping for some happiness which is why I liked Richard's farewell and the subsequent bedroom reunion between Hank and Karen. I hope next season will offer up more of a storyline for Becca. I think she is one of the best aspects of the show, but she was underutilized this season.
  9. Californication Review: Dazed and Confused

Oh "Jim' likening me to Shrek? Really? Being pedantic is part of being a critic friend. You’ve never seen a show you didn’t like? Every movie deserves an Oscar? Come on now. You asked why can’t people just enjoy things for what they are. Why can’t you just enjoy a healthy debate about a show we all like and get involved constructively? If you have read my reviews over the course of the season you would have seen that I am a huge fan of the show, why else would I be writing about it? I assure you it is not for the money. Loving the show as I do I hold it to a high standard. I have overlooked some of the weaker parts of the season because overall I very much enjoy the series and have since it started. That said we all have the right to be critical of shows we like, just like you have the right to be critical of my reviews. What is "sad" though are the people like yourself who take the time to write in only to bash someone's hard work without offering up any opinions about the subject matter of your own. I admitted that I was lost as to where the show can go from here, what could the writers offer up that would continue to make it fresh. I appealed to you and other fans alike to share your thoughts. Some of which have graciously done so while others like yourself chose to just sling hate. I in no way ever implied I could do a better job than the writers of the show. I just know from being a fan that they are capable of much more than we got last night. The opening scene was indicative of the genius this show produces whereas the closing scene was a weak conclusion to a season and show that commands better.
  10. Californication Review: Dazed and Confused

"Keni" Sadly I do know about suicide all too well. While your cras comment doesn't really warrant me getting into how or why I do, I have amended my review to avoid upsetting anyone further or distracting from the show which is after all what we are all here to talk about. I apologize if you took my comments as insensitive. I should have not made such a blanket comment in hindsight. If you want to email me through the site here and have a serious discussion I'm open to it. Hopefully we can get back to discussing the finale.
  11. Up All Night Review: Too Close For Comfort

Well one guest star did deliver and that was you Leigh. Thanks so much for covering for me. Great review! Henry Winkler tends to be hit or miss. Water Boy, Scream, it must be hard when you peak on your first show. He and the cast of Beverly Hills 90210 have that in common I guess.
  12. House of Lies Review: Chopped and Screwed

Interesting analysis Facepalm. You may be right. Though I thought his breakdown after the car broke down had more to do with the weight of the situation at gallweather finally hitting him. His job was the one part of his life he could make sense of and seemingly control. Such was not the case at home and even more so with Roscoe's recent protest. That reality and the obvious fact that he was stuck on the side of the road with no gas, no phone and in desperate need of a shower made for a major boiling point. I'm very much looking forward to your comments following the next episode. The discussion of this show has been minimal this season here. I hope we can continue this recent momentum in comments next season.
  13. TV Fanatic Staff Round Table: Funniest TV Character

TY "livelovelaugh" I was shocked to see Barney Stinson didn't get a nod? I'm still waiting for it...
  14. House of Lies Review: Chopped and Screwed

Also "Bob" the Rainmaker's daughter was played by Anna Wood.
  15. House of Lies Review: Chopped and Screwed

Love the comments but as for the great debate we're having here I am pretty certain Marty did not know who the bartender was at first. It was a bit of a nice coincidence and actually could be seen as an unrealistic plot twist but I don't think he knew who she was when he went home with her. He nonchalantly mentioned her dad when he saw the picture but that was just him keeping his cool. I have the remaining episodes already but I tend not to watch too far ahead so my reviews aren't tainted by knowledge of stuff that has not aired. I'll try to confirm this though somehow and let you all know.
  16. How I Met Your Mother Review: Quinntervention

Amen to all your comments so far. "Brybry" very good note on the Robin and Barney heart to heart. It added a great level of emotion to what was also an amazingly comical episode.
  17. House of Lies Review: Defending Your Life

Agreed MOL. The inter-pod banter is the best part of the show I think. Doug and Clyde have amazing chemistry and are a great male duo reminiscent of Chandler and Joey on Friends.
  18. Californication Review: Dog Water

What are people's feelings on Charlie signing Tyler against Hank's wishes? Was Hank being selfish or was Charlie in the wrong?
  19. Californication Review: Dog Water

"marc" thx for the kind words. Interesting that you liken Tyler to Mia, very similar in some ways. This is different for me though because Becca is in the line of fire and any fall out Tyler runs into will hurt her as well. Speaking of Becca how come we haven't seen her with her guitar once this season? Music has always been such a big part of her character.
Getting back to this week, I think Charlie is aware of Lizzie's motives. I reference the conversation he and Stu had.
Stu: I know I'm not a handsome man, but I am a very successful man. I know what it's like to be hit on by pretty young things who want something from me.
Charlie: Must be nice, wish I did.
Whether he is being used or not I don't think he really cares so long at the hot tub oral exams continue.
  20. Californication Review: Dog Water

"MarkHill" Is it safe to say you did not appreciate my Cobra reference or found it misplaced? In the case of Brian Thompson, for me his most memorable role will always be the Night Slasher. Maybe the alien bounty hunter from X-Files would have been more apropo given your example, but he hasn't really had the kind of career that is full of memorable characters in my opinion. I'm guessing in the case of Mr. Colt 45 himself you would use Lando Calrissian as your reference opposite Harrison Ford. Fair enough, I see where you are coming from, point taken.
  21. Shameless Review: Rock You Like A Hurricane

Part1 of my 2 comments. The bi-polar thing has me worried too Leigh. Only a matter of time before the little happy home blows up. I also agree with you re. her and Frank being good together. Not necessarily good for anyone else, but they do make each other happy. Frank was right to tell Fiona not to rob Deb of that memory. Interesting question about the father of Karen’s baby. I thought she was just shaking down past lovers for cash but you might be right. Sjhe really bugged me this week with her attitude toward the adoption as well as her blatant disregard for the health of the fetus inside her. I sort of hope Lip ends up getting together with Mandy. You could see the initial disappointment on her face when Ian told her his big bro had dropped out of school, but I did not see the pregnancy coming. That was a good twist to end things. I don’t think Jody and Karen are still married though. Didn’t she get him to sign an annulment or was that a prenup?
  22. Shameless Review: Rock You Like A Hurricane

Steve was just awesome, for the FNL reference but also for his persistence each morning with the coffees and doughnuts. Still funny to see Deb sipping on her own cup of joe. Good for her to as she finally seems to have caught the eye of Lil' Hank after he scoped out Monica in her cheer outfit. It was also nice for Fiona to finally get some thanks for all that she does. While I think it will be short lived I hope she takes advantage of the free time and does something for herself. Not sure why but I got a little emotional for Fi as she was so nervous to leave Liam. It was so touching and cute when she told Monica if he wanted juice it had to be watered down and he had to drink it out of a big boy cup. What's gonna happen with Sheila and Jody? Can only imagine what was going on behind that door with Seal blasting. Debbie's words about grannie were a little out of place and forced but overall I loved the episode. Kevin realizing circle doesn't start with a "S" was the LOL moment of the week for me.
  23. Californication Review: Raw I'm Gonna Give It To You

BTW I forgot to comment on how amazing the house Tyler's mothers live in was. That view off the back deck...good god. Why am I on the East Coast?
  24. Californication Review: Raw I'm Gonna Give It To You

MOL I think you are right on having to be in "the club" as you termed it, to use such a word. Many groups have reclaimed as their own, words that in the past were created and used to hurt and degrade. We saw in earlier episodes Samurai tell Hank to cut out his use of "urban patois," because he found it insulting given the tone Hank used.
  25. Californication Review: Raw I'm Gonna Give It To You

We are definitely in for some fireworks between Hank and Charlie when the issue of Tyler's script comes up. Great call on the intonation he put on the word Agent. While we don't see Hank defend himself there are references to him doing so. We as viewers don't need to see him explain what we already know to be the truth so they merely reference his defense claims at later dates like when he told Becca on more than one aoccassion how he had nothing to do with Tyler getting beat up. Given Hank's track record I think they often need a third party to fess up to believe Hank, like in the case of Bates coming clean with Karen or Tyler admitting his cheating to Becca.
