Not even a mention in your review of how cute it was when Jess finally got her pash on with the cute male teacher? I thought that was adorable... The side story was pretty stupid, but that one really saved the day for me!
I really loved this episode. It is good to see Jess and Nick finally find partners who you think actually suit them, although the money thing was a bit awkward. Also still find it awkward that they just didn't deal with that break up at all... as if it never happened... I remember on Friends, with Ross and Rachel it just kept coming into the conversation... having seen it in my own group of friends, it's realistic. It's like the writers just wanted a do-over on New Girl... I guess it's the way you have to roll to watch the show and enjoy it... like that never actually happened. I think Nadia should be a series regular. She is soooo funny. She makes me laugh so much. I would watch episodes dedicated to her. I think the girl fight was really on the money!!
Tonight's episode was mostly funny and I enjoyed it. But I think the show has become a bit too crowded. Why don't a few of the characters move next door, "Friend's Style." I mean they've already brought in the next door apartment as an option. It just seems a bit hard to believe that many 30-somethings are all living together sharing a space. Also, on the topic of "Friend's," I think a major difference in the shows is that on Friend's, even rewatching all these years later, you see so much growth in the characters throughout the seasons. They start as in their late 20's pretty lost, and then they sort of really get into their professions and start to be solid in their directions, and their failures seem somehow real and relatable. The failures of the characters in New Girl seem a little bit ridiculous... for example: Schmidt losing all his money because he brought a shopfront for his like 3 week girlfriend. All of them trying to get laid at a wedding and totally failing - who cares... Also I really don't like how they've treated the Nick and Jess break up. There is no way you are in love with someone and then you break up and just go on living together as if everything is back to Season 1 and you never got together. Haha maybe coming from the point of view of a 30 y/o who just came out of a serious relationship with someone in her friend group I can say for certain there is no way everything is all good a few weeks later.. But I think that it's really letting the show down. One of them should have moved out even if it was next door... Even when Jess broke up with the super hot doctor (who they should bring back and I think they were awesome together) you saw her really sad and express pain and emotion. Even Cece and Schmidt couldn't be around each other for ages after their break up. It's just frustrating to watch them go on as if nothing happened.... Anyway that's my 2-bobs!! :)
I love so much that they brought Joel back as a cameo for this episode, and they let him be Zoe's friend. Since the beginning of this season, I couldn't help but love Joel. He is so delightfully neurotic and funny, and out of place, and yet he just works! But I always thought the chemistry with Joel and Zoe was more like brother and sister or very best friends in the world, and I am really happy to see they are still including him in her world more in this way. The fact they could discuss love lives with each other in a way that made you realise they had already sort of ended as friends made it work. When Tom Long nearly burst with excitement about Joel and Don Todd emerging at once it was so adorable! By the way what was up with this whole season 'Don Todd' obsession... is it some craze in America that Australians dont get or is it just a Hart of Dixie thing. Ahhh Wade and Zoe... so endgame! I am not convinced that Lemon should be with George or Lavon. I love them both, but think they are both a bit too cheesy for the new and very awesome character she has become. I actually do like Lavon and AB together. They worked, in a cute cheesy domestic way. I don't really understand how Lavon was all in love with her last season and said Lemon and him had their time and it was in the past, when he could have made that choice, and now he has done such a backturn. Hahah I love that Cricket was the one to come out! Classic moment!! How many months until the next season!??! Addicted to this little escape from reality in Bluebell, Alabama!
I was so happy to see the re-emergence of Tansy's crazy brothers. I used to find them awful, but ever since their mutual mancrush with "Joelle" I can't get enough!! I do hope there is a 3 brother + Joelle reunion episode sometime in the future! I think Lavon's behavior is awful, but I think it's actually realistic, I've seen male friends do this to their ex girlfriends's a lot more then you'd think. They decide for some reason they can't be with her, but they also want her to keep loving them, and don't want her to love anyone else. Insensitive and extremely selfish? Yes. Unplausible. No! I love love love the Wade & Lemon friendship. When you think back to the very first season and how they made reference to when they were in high school together with George all doing pranks together, you have to think, this is a real and long lasting friendship and it's very sweet. These two unlikely characters really look out for each other and its lovely.
Evan is awesome and Gloria is hilarious!! Jack Porter is prett annoying but he is starting to get better and Aiden is getting so annoying, the new character in the show is too… maybe the whole show is just getting annoying. Mmmm EVERYone from the BIg Bang theory… especially since they play it in Australia like 24/7 and the Dad from Family Guy is the worst character ever. Jill from Royal Pains was super annoying and pretty much everyone of Hank's gfs ever. And definitely the Whiny ex-wife of Nucky from Boardwalk empire. Tarah from True Blood is always sulking about something and being angsty. The best characters ever though are Mallory from Archer, Nolan from Revenge and Adam from Girls!
I actually found this one of the most awkward episodes yet. The jokes just fell flat for me. Everything about the dinner party seemed really contrived, not in a realistic way or a funny way… just an awkward way… The Jess and her sister story was alright but seemed a bit random to get introduced to the fact she even 'has a sister' three years after we met them all… It was good to see Schmidt start to try and get some game back but it still really didn't work…
I think this was the worst episode of New Girl I've seen. I understand the issues they were trying to explore were sort of relevant, but it just seemed ridiculous. Im the same age as them, all my male friends are city slickers, but they still know how to be men - this was just stupid. Also a bear hole so big they can all fall in, dug by Nick in under an hour? Cmon! Nothing about the episode was funny, it was all so totally cringe-worthy. I find Nick so Over The Top, and totally over-reacts to everything. I mean the Ross-Rachel thing, had Ross as a goof, but he as likeable, and more importantly, believable. They are making the Nick character ridiculous. And as for Schmidt, I really hope his confidence comes back soon, because he was always so funny, and now he is really tedious. Jess trying to always be a supportive girlfriend and stand by Nick and support his ridiculousness is just frustrating. Both her past ex-boyfriends were so awesome, the hot doctor and Russell. There is no real life scenario where a girl would break up with them, and then go and be this little puppy who rolls over for this spineless twit.... Sorry it's frustrating. Coach does't quite work - i think the addition of another girl would have been better. My favourite characters lately are Cece and Winston, I think they are the only ones who seem vaguely normal... But this show used to make me laugh soooo much! I hope it picks up again
That was a seriously hectic final! I really can't believe they killed Richard. It was like they wanted to totally do away with the whole Jimmy storyline in one episode, especially symbolised by finally discovering his body. I guess the remaining characters from that part of the story have stumbled on for a few seasons past his death. Still, Richard added so much awesome value to the show, and considering how epic he was in the last finale, it's true as you say, they could have honored him with a more glorious send off. Would have far rather lost Chalky then Richard. I think there needs to be a spinoff story about the New York and Chicago gangsters - I honestly find them so much more fascinating then most of the Atlantic city ones with the exception of Nucky. I guess it's hard to stay loyal to Atlantic city characters when they kill off half the cast, and sent the other half to New York, Chicago, and remote hideaways. At this point who is even left in Atlantic city? the Knoxx scene was really gory and I think it dragged on a little two long... we got the point. I don't really think this finale did the season justice, it really felt like it was halfway through the season, not the finale. When you compare it to how totally amazing the last finale was it leaves a lot wanting. I did love the rest of the season though. I just think we needed about 4 more episodes with the Capone-Van Alden, Margaret-Rothstein and Luciano-Masseria stories to accurately cover what needed to be told. Another episode with Nucky actually in Florida would have been good too. Oh well... I agree, not a great episode but good enough, and its still so beautiful, I will definitely be back next season.
