In no way did Damon get close to HAVING Elena.
Yes, Elena likes Damon. Yes, she is thankful for all the ways he's been there for her lately and everything he's done. Yes, she felt rejected and vulnerable as of late because the love of her life appeared to not care about her and there was a beautiful guy who was swooning over her and that's nice to indulge in, sometimes. But it's so obvious that she doesn't LOVE him. At this point she could not possibly feel obligated to stay away from Damon because of Stefan. The reason she stays away from him is because she still loves Stefan and it's realistic, imo. You don't just stop loving someone and shift your affection to someone else! No matter how hot that other person is.
I'm not saying she doesn't like Damon and care about him, but she loves Stefan and I respect her for that even though she was pretty mean to Damon tonight. She could have been more sensitive.
1. The Stelena scene at the end, up until the last moment when Stefan pulled away. Why? Oh why???
2. Going after Kol. - Sleeping with Rebekkah was a twist I liked. They could be good together.
3. They were all more or less believable, plus I liked the song during the waltz.
4. Tyler's phone call was so adorable, my whole mind closed shut to the idea of Klaroline. Still, Caroline could actually bring out a much needed softer side to Klaus (should he want to stay past this season's finale that is).
5. Kol seemed so beautifully self involved. I loved the mirror scene.
The pranks were fun, everything else in the Wade/Zoe/Judson storyline felt forced. The ending, really??? Wade has shown that he's actually a good guy and from previous weeks it seemed like he was just waiting for a chance to make his move on Zoe. Yet, when presented with a "penalty shot" he chickened out. BAD WRITING!!! Seriously. Wade and Zoe have a great dynamic which does not necessarily have to change when they get together.
Please writers: Get it together!!! I like this show's characters too much to have it canceled.
I'm sure the writers will find a way to create a believable love triangle here. Obviously Tyler is MIA but not forgotten. He did say he loved her. But Klaus will also find a way to appear in a more favorable light. They'll think of something, I'm sure.
I just can't believe that people actually think he's evil, a douchebag or worse now.
When has Stefan not cared? He's gone through hell and back. One obstacle after the other gets thrown in his way to be with Elena. What on earth has Damon done that comes even close?
I can't believe how people are turning their backs on Stefan. He's always been the good guy and even when he was high on blood, he was still trying. It's so obvious he's trying to protect Elena now too. It's not just about revenge and getting even with Klaus, but about getting rid of him, so Elena won't have to live in constant danger.
I get that people love Damon, because it's every girl's dream to turn the bad boy into a perfect boyfriend. I can also see how the love triangle is a driving force in the storyline of TVD and that it needs fueling from now and then, but I really wonder what this ultimately means for Elena. What kind of person will she be and how is it justified that both Salvatore brothers are swooning over her? I'm just saying, Elena and Stefan's love story was meant to be epic from the start. He was and is never to be with anybody else.
@ Kim: I agree that Zoe and Wade don't seem to have a lot in common, but to be honest, I'd love to see a couple like that work it out. Getting to know each other, layer by layer and realizing there is more than sexual attraction.
Why would it always have to be Doctors with Lawyers and Bartenders with Strippers? It's fiction and so there's a chance to make this work. Plus, apart from sleeping with a lot of girls, we really don't know all that much about Wade, except that he's head over heels for Zoe and that he can be as sweet as sugar (anyone remember the Gumbo Contest?).
He is funny and caring and has enough confidence to not be offended by her sometimes snobby comments or her questioning his intelligence. I'd say Wade is definitely street smart and he trusts his guts. After all, something Zoe also came to find in Blue Bell.
To sum it up: I think there is hope here!
Klaus: Damn Mom, if only we knew a witch, powerful enough to create an immortal species. Bringing someone back to life would be a piece of cake for her, don't you think?
I definitely was not a Dair fan in the beginning. I thought it ridiculous and sort of desperate of the writers, just because they didn't have anyone else to pair either Blair or Dan with, but then again the whole thing was developed so carefully and slowly and also very realisticly that I came to actually like these too together. If you look for them, there have been tiny Dair moments in all of the previous seasons, where she (had to) let her guard down and he saw a little more of the real Blair, the vulnerable and delicate Blair, the person who's hiding behind schemes and labels to cover her insecurities. Dan had these realisations over the course of time and it feels alright that he fell for her. After all, we did, too.
I have since season 1 been a strong Chair fan and always thought it to be Endgame, but as I believe I have matured since then, I can see, how though crazy romantic, emotional and intriguing, the Chair relationship is far from healthy. The people you love are supposed to bring out the best in you and while I can see some of this happening now with Chuck, to me it seems too artificial, whereas with Dan and Blair, feelings may be less dramatic but also less hurting.
I changed my mind and my heart went along. Dair would be good together. And it would give both of them some closure from their failed past relationships.
I honestly don't know why I'm still watching. This review is actually too kind for what the writers did in this episode and the entire season. The only good parts are Naomi, because she has witty and funny lines, at least when she doesn't have to play the brainless bed bunny.
For the rest of the show: Ughh. Seriously, there is no contingency or depth to the characters or their storylines. It's like a huge zick-zack is going on in each and every relationship. Plus, apart from Raj and Ivy, I don't feel any of the current couples and the way they "broke them up" at the end of the episode was completely ridiculous. They were the only couple with some depth in their relationship and this is how they're supposed to act in light of a problem which isn't really that big of a deal. It all seemed so completely staged and faked.
I've stuck by this show for all its seasons, but it's getting really annoying.
Maybe we will find out why Petrova blood is interwoven with the whole curse. There's got to be a reason, why it's Katherine and/or Elena's blood that has supernatural abilities. This hasn't been explained yet, has it?
@ Jordan: That was what I thought back in Season 1. I really thought they could make a very interesting arch-enemies turn lovers storyline with Damon and Bonnie. She can hold her ground against him, she doesn't just swoon all over him like Caroline or Andy. It would be interesting to see, but I don't think any of the writers are planning to go there. I would be a stretch from where they are right now, but I feel like TVD writers are long-term planners, given that it took Forwood almost half a season to get together, so I say nothing's impossible. Still, something's got to switch off that Elena-loving, Damon's got going on in his head and heart. - Mh. Maybe a spell. :) Just kidding.
Best Character: Klaus, just because he is so funny while being evil. Stefan however comes in a close second. It's so interesting to see this side of him.
Worst Character: Jeremy. The whole thing with Anna was so exaggerated. They weren't even that close in Season 1. It was cute, but since there was no real aim behind it, it should've been left out.
Best Episode: The Hybrid. S: "That wasn't supposed to happen." K: "Well obviously." Loved it!
Worst Episode: "Ghost Town." Although it was nice to have them gone by the end of it! If only there were a different way to bring back Lexi!
Most Interesting Development: Stefan turning on Klaus and going for revenge in 2012.
Biggest Surprise: Klaus being a Momma and now a Poppa-killer and lying to his siblings about it for 1000 years.
Best Bromance: Alaric and Damon. That scene under the Lockwood Property was pure gold. Also, them not speaking was like watching two kindergarteners.
Most Misused Character: Bonnie. There is so much they could do with her! She could turn evil, ala Willow in Buffy. That would be a twist.
Hopes for 2012: The END of Delena. It needs to stop! Damon needs to move on, find himself someone who can actually love him more than Stefan; and Elena needs to stay true to the one she loves and who loves her more than anything else. She cannot be that girl. After everything Stefan gave up to protect her, after him holding on to his humanity as long as he could for her, after withstanding Klaus' demands as good as he could, after sacrificing his conscience and all the work he has put into being a good guy for so many years. If Elena abandoned her love for Stefan, she would be such a colossal disappointment! Why can't she stay single? Does she have to hop into bed with either one of the Salvator brothers? - No!
Also, new twists and turns and a revenge plot line led by the other Originals.
It's so cool to see this side of Stefan. The vengeful, angry side, not just the ripper with remorse side which Klaus inflicted upon him. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season but hopefully he'll find his way back to Elena. They belong together.
@PrincessD: I totally feel you. It seems like all the main cast is just hopping from one bed to the next. I mean it's okay that none of the original couples are together anymore, but it just feels completely random! Silver and Navid? Dixon and Adrianna? What a swap. (I know the second part hasn't happened yet, but i'm sure it will). It just feels like these relationships don't even mean anything. Like now with naomi and max. They were cute and fun together, but now the next best thing (Austin) just came along. It's getting ridiculous. But maybe that's how people in LA are. I hope not!
I can't stop listening to the song from the end of the episode. It fit so perfectly as Damon acted out and Stefan called Elena. Damn it, Paul Wesley's got that expression locked up. Tears dropped from my eyes instantly. What an amazing start to this season! Loved what Elena told Stefan, too. The writers are amazing!!!
I wasn't aware this was the finale already. I thought the story telling in general was really good however as much as I would like Chloe to have a love interest, I feel like Skylar has no chemistry whatsoever with either of her co-stars. The moments she shared with Alek, you wouldn't believe there were any feelings at all from her side, which would also be weird because then she would have absolutely no reason to be with him and instead tell him it won't work out. With Brian, I can see how they try to show how much each of them care for the other, but Skylar is only believable when she's talking about Brian or to him on the phone. You can see how her face lights up and everything, but as soon as these two are on a screen together, I get nothing! There are no sparks, no longing, no yearning, nothing. It's really weird, coz I'm a sucker for romance, but I cannot really find it, although I can see them try real hard.
I guess not every single one of those three deaths will be a "permanent" one. So it's quite possible that one of the main characters dies and then comes back to life later. - so there is a chance of Elena dying.
Other than that, I kinda hope Matt dies. There's no future to his character, though i realize he's neither a vamp, nor, wolf, nor witch.
I think the baby will die, too. She's only 23 weeks, the chances of a baby this premature surviving and being healthy are close to zero. There are all sorts of complications, including organ failure and chronic deseases. Should they keep the baby on the show, it would be little realistic to have Arizona, Mark and Kelly raise a completely healthy baby. Thes babies have long-lasting an recurring health issues which would be an interesting topic but also horrifying and very difficult to pull off.
Although the singing wasn't too bad, I felt like the acting suffered enormously because of it. The scene where Mark and Arizona fight, (whilst Kelly is singing in front), they both do horrible movements and seem completely out of place.
Another thing I noticed: The helicopter landing was shot in front of a blue screen and it was not very well covered. Please ABC, spend a little more on your Special Effects, if you have to do these kind of scenes. This was pathetic.
