Spot on, panel. Christine, I really like your comment about Pike being good on paper. It is my take exactly only said better. Everyone's reasons for choosing the final scene as their favourite are mine also: devastating and amazing. Those two ... exquisite. This was such a great episode. Loved, loved, loved it. Looking forward to the next 3 but kind of dreading what they might bring at the same time. My heart is beginning to get a bit fragile with these agonising endings. :)
Love your insightful take on all of this. I wish more people were as level headed as you are, open to the possibility that there isn't just one way to interpret what is on the screen and willing to listen to the other view. Full disclosure: while I see the Jane-Lisbon relationship as complex (and not initially romantic) I do think that is where they are headed now and am all for it.
Haha Michael, why do you bother then, and why post here? Every time I take a peek at this site I see the same comment from you. Just an observation.
Diving into the shallow end (yet again): What's with all of the fishery nomenclature in TM 2.0? First Fischer, then Pike. With luck, F will reel in P so he won't be around to pester our lovely L. Apologies if this has been brought up before. I haven't read all of the comments. Which are likely way deeper than mine.
I hear you. Ever the optimist, even I am feeling more than a bit disheartened by the prospect of 5 episodes of alternate love interest for Lisbon. At this point I admit I don't quite get the master plan of Bruno et al. that requires Lisbon to find herself through the attentions of an attractive suitor who is not Jane. If you accept it as necessary, didn't she have 2 years to do this? Maybe there were no worthy guys in Podunk WA. I am hoping for a Mancini repeat: lots of smoke (spoiler), no real fire and a fizzle out after an episode or 2. Yet another road block is irritating at this late stage in the game. This from an ardent and interested fan. On a positive and conciliatory note, jealous Jane is amusing to watch.
Except that Airstreams have always been super cool (I remember my dad coveting them on camping trips) and they are perfect for Jane: retro and chic. Kind of a Citroen substitute. Or product placement. Probably that. 😉
I know nothing of him either but the photos give me the impression he will be about as different from Jane as a human male can be: earnest, orthodox and good boy FBI straight shooter. Who, once she takes him for a test drive, will send Lisbon running back to her far more charming, interesting, infuriating partner. Unique will trump bland. My opinion 😉
hehe -- too right!
I agree. And I'll check out tumblr. Haven't been there in a while. It's always fun :)
