Recap

Gemma pushes OA to talk about his time in Afghanistan.

But he refuses to open up about it, which annoys her.

He gets saved by a case.

Maggie and Ella are visting Ella's grandparents in Akron.

Tyler Combs was taken at gunpoint by three men in masks.

Tyler's parents are wealthy so the detective's theory is a kidnapping for ransom.

According to Kelly, Tyler is an employee at tech company Crimson Orb and appears to hang out with its founder, Leo Grant.

The team tracks Tyler to an abandoned building by pinging his heart monitor.

They recover Tyler, who says his abductors asked him a lot of questions about his boss and who he was meeting with today.

They arrive at Grant's meeting before the gunmen, then rush downstairs to find four Taliban shot and another abducted.

But Grant won't help them with the investigation. So OA and Tiffany haul him in.

There's no record of the Taliban entering the country. They are members of the Afghan government.

The abducted man is terrorist Abdul Khaleq Sayeed.

Grant refers them to Evelyn Kates, the Deputy Secretary of State.

Kates tells them the Afghans are negotiating a mineral-rights deal with Grant, who is serving as a proxy for the U.S. government.

She has no idea who took Sayeed.

Elise and Kelly locate the terrorists' car in White Plains. It's abandoned but Tiffany finds a flash-gang grenade manufactured in Florida.

The flash-bangs were shipped to a Queens postal box rented by a dentist, Dr. Michael Garrett.

They find a dead kidnapper, Gregory Weeks,6 in one of Garrett's offices.

Garrett's son James was the last American POW in Afghanistan and Garrett feels he was abandoned when the U.S. pulled out in 2020.

Jubal gets Garrett to open up. The other two kidnappers from his son's unit are Major Alex Kim and Sergeant Brian Muller.

They hoipe to trade Sayeed for James Garrett.

Another unit member, John Beckwith, rented a van near where the other car was abandoned.

Kim is driving the van to Long Island and they locate it with GPS.

OA wants to negotiate with Kim even though Isobel ordered them to breach.

Kim tells OA that the Taliban agreed to their terms and James is on the way home, to be exchanged for Sayeed.

OA gives Kim ten minutes to give up Sayeed.

The deadline passes and shots are fired inside the building.

The soldiers killed Sayeed in self-defense when he cut through his zip ties and grabbed a weapon.

Isobel gets Kates to see the P.R. value of bringing James home.

Isobel has a plan to extract James even without Sayeed.

She arranges a deep fake with Grant to make the Taliban with James believe Sayeed is still alive.

Someone has leaked the news that Sayeed is dead.

A firefight ensues and the Taliban leader drags James into a hanger.

OA shoots him when he doesn't release James.

OA informs James about the plot to get him released.

OA explains to Gemma that he had been a Taliban prisoner of war for 22 days and the woman she'd heard him talking to on the phone was the widow of a POW who didn't make it.

OA: Seriously.

Gemma: It's really hard being in a relationship with someone who doesn't open up.
OA: I'm sure that it is, and I'm sorry. But there are just some things that I don't wanna talk about, that I can't talk about.
