Brennan being Brennan is what this show is all about -- that and her relationship with Booth. Booth is in love with Brennan not just knowing the way she is, but by how interesting that makes her. And she's always trusted him when he's said something was a certain way -- except, and because of how much humanity Booth has brought to her view of the world, she is getting her own experience (like, besides seeing cartoons because she has a kid, since she learned how to make pancakes, wanting to make pancakes for Booth -- not to take his job, but for his praise). What's Brennan-like is not thinking of anyone else's feelings because she relies entirely on logic (except it's not entirely true now).
I think it was a fun episode and look forward to more fireworks in the future!
I was reading over the descriptions again of the shows listed and see that both of the shows I acknowledged seemed really popular by comments and that I never heard of ... were on CBS and Fox. Maybe those 2 just needed some advertising so people like me would have given them a try!
I was hoping someone would mention one of the shows I loved that were cancelled, but then it occurred to me that maybe that was why they were cancelled. Oh well, I really liked "Eleventh Hour," "The Unusuals," and "Detroit 1-8-7." I don't have cable so maybe the shows most mentioned here are on cable (but I've never seen "Firefly" or "Moonlight").
The guy in the backof the limousine sort of looked like Wainright to me (and was hoping the review would confirm it). By the bullet holes, he was killed by the FBI (or why gag him). If so -- and I'm just asking/speculating -- why didn't he squirm around of moan or do anything to give Red John's game away?
I think the FBI female agent is a red herring ... but in this show (and I love it and enjoy Jane's games and cons every week and will watch it until it ends!!) everybody, like all 300 million people seem to be Red John disciples. I mean, it's getting to be a little like the old Adam West Batman show where every super villain has a super new weapon and a dastardly plot to take over the world.
I suspected the killer would turn out to be the guy who offered Booth a job. Loved the podiatrist and how Bones so casually insults him and his arm goes dead! Fune episode -- definitely!
@marine - Emily Deschanel was pregnant and had a baby. I read that since she would need time off, they used Bones to introduce The Finder (I think it's called) and gave it the time slot and planned to make a few wrap up the Bones season episodes for now after she came back.
I really do get that shows are fiction and don't have to make sense ... but how are they justifying Daisy being around? She graduated, did fieldwork on a team with Brennan, which would certainly indicate she'd established her bonafides immediately out of school ... and she's hanging around the Jeffersonian in the rotation of doing the work of one of Brennan's interns?
The ratings for "Don't Trust the B" are really disappointing. The humor is so different than a sitcom and the show is so funny ... but the drop off from "Modern Family" and that it can't even equal reruns of other shows probably means it will soon be gone. Oh well.
And, so, it makes perfect sense to me, especially when also considering how parents/families have dreams/plans for their children concerning carrying on the legacy and family name and maybe not losing the family farm -- none of which is fair to any kids and, I think, unless you're a Kennedy and your older brother is killed and you're expected to now step into your father's plans for your older brother, all of these parental/family weights fall away as the "real" people the children are are accepted, although maybe not so easily if there's something as fundamental as being gay involved. Cam and Mitchell have at least gotten through it ... and their dads probably never will completely.
I thought the two fathers plotline was quite consistent and that it was consistent that Cam would be oblivious regarding his own father and that Mitchell wouldn't be regarding his father. Jay is affectionate with his kids in that it's always obvious he loves them (like he's always there for them no matter how it discombobulates his state of mind, like when he had to pick them up when they went to get there pictures taken where they grew up or whatever), BUT, he's never been entirely at peace with his son being gay, and deals with it sometimes with some "hurtful" jokes -- and can still say, father to son, "Who are we kidding?" we both have mates who can put up with us (or approx. like that).
I do understand that fiction takes liberty with reality and the two can't be held to the same standard ...but I want to comment on therapy and therapists from those I've known who've been through it (and my conclusions). Therapists seem more concerned with helping their patient deal with their patient's reality. It's more like asking them how does something make them feel or they say things like you sound like you think you should be doing something about that, what do you think you should do. So, it makes sense they would help a person deal with what she is by supporting the idea she is healing and this is all part of the process ... then remind the patient of the conclusion reached.
I like tough cops in books, but Detective Slaughter here wasn't anything like them. For instance, John Sandford's Lucas Davenport was fired for beating up a pimp who used a "churchkey" (old fashioned can and bottle opener) to cut up a prostitute who was one of Davenport's snitches. So, you could like Davenport for that. I've never seen a protagonist who would pick out someone he didn't like and frame him for a crime he had nothing to do with. I've seen bad guys do that -- but not "good guys."
I like the homelife scenes better than the cases these days. I mean, I like the changes in the show. To me it started with the little blonde mute girl who'd been abducted as a baby. The focus there was more emotional with regard to Brennan (and turning to Booth for guidance, turning to him as she might a big brother or like a high school girl to her high school boyfriend) and Sweets was more forward from that episode (which was followed by the sniper and the squint getting killed, and the Angela's baby being born and Brennan tells Booth she's pregnant ... and then this season (like the show changed directions, in my opinion). I like it!
I agree with McBelle that they need to clear the air. I like them as partners (whereas I like Brennan and Booth together and enjoy the homelife scenes more than the cases these days because they were always way closer than Castle and Beckett are) and can wait for the end of the show to get them to change to more than cop partners ... but drawing conclusions from evidence and conclusion rather than communication messes up the chemistry at the very least!
I don't watch Glee anymore. Love the first season and second didn't lose me, but now I'm more interested in how fast it can be cancelled because I'm a big fan of Lea Michelle and want to see her get on with her career and be in something good!
I love this show. I enjoyed this episode. Just want to make sure there's some balance to those who don't like it or watch it but have a lot to say. Sorry -- you haven't convinced me to stop watching yet. Do you work for one of the other shows in the time slot?
Every time there's a teaser about a show's character getting killed (and yeah, shot doesn't have to mean "killed") it always turns out to be some fringe character. On the Mentalist, I sure hope they don't end another season with him going to be tried for murder ... and then get off again. Of course, I hope they don't do something really stupid by have him shoot someone to save their lives somehow. If it is one of the main characters and he shoots them because they're a Red John disciple, the only one I can see it being is Grace, which would be disappointing.
Grissom was the CSI character that all the spin offs had to emulate in part -- so I would say I miss that; however, I like Danson and the actress who plays Morgan (and her and her father's relationship) and Shue's Ok. I would miss Catherine -- except she hasn't been "Catherine" for it-seems-like-forever. She represented a connection to the Las Vegas milieu through the casinos that I thought made her a unique TV crime fighter -- and without that, which was kind of abandoned along the way anyway, this CSI could be in Seattle or Columbus, Ohio (except for fade-ins and fade-outs of the bright lights. I stopped watching altogether during Fishbourne's run (and I think then is when it stopped being so much about "Vegas").
Brennan is a character (meaning like So-and-so's a real character). That's much of the fun of the show. Remember how she watched the "documentary" series on the Guido tribe and tried to deal with Jersey people in anthopology terms? Or how she listens to what Booth tells her (like about how young adults have to do dumb things in order to grow regarding his brother going to India) and applies what he says as if he's a life professor? I'm not so sure she'd care too much about being "cool," but I had no trouble with her wanting to have the baby in private where she had complete control and could experience child birth scientifically without anyone else butting in -- or her total reliance on her "truth" that she could walk through a prison riot safely. Brennan has to be Brennan -- or the show isn't any fun.
I love this show -- but was looking at an episode guide online and thinking that it has evolved. It's not at all the same show I started watching with episode 1. Remember the poker games? It seemed Castle was part of an old-boy network a lot more than now where the only time he's seen away from Beckett is with his mother and daughter. I guess, though, all shows change -- and the good ones, like Castle, change in ways we can continue to love and enjoy!
@andrea and those unfamiliar - comments are limited to 1000 characters. And I didn't figure out what was happening to my comments -- somebody, like this comment, said.
As to the previews. If Castle were to get pissy about Beckett saying she didn't remember, I could see her simply saying, "I didn't want to deal with it -- and I don't now!" and what can he say? But, That's a relationship that can be dealt with whenever the time comes they are both ready to deal with it -- Castle, by keeping a secret for her supposed safety, is far far worse. He's telling her he has no respect for her as a human being (because she's a girl?) and he has no confidence in her ability as a policeman and he lied to her about something more than a relationship she's only not ready to deal with. Bas news when that comes out!
