Oh good. It sounds harsh, but I was kind of hoping that Team Shepherd would be unsuccessful in Seattle - just because it would be a different storyline! Between Derek and Addison, I swear they never fail at anything!
Another really good episode from Smash. On Twitter, so many of the stars were commenting about the number, "Let's Be Bad" being the best number they've done so far. It was good, but I just didn't astound me the way I expected it to. I guess that's why Julia needs to stop making out with her actors and start writing a book that complements and explains the numbers! And I totally agree with you on the Ivy drama. Karen does come across as a little naive and unfailingly kind, but Ivy is such a jerk to her! I don't buy that Ivy is supposed to be the antagonist here, because they highlight all of her vulnerabilities. But she makes me want to roll my eyes every time she comes on the screen.
This show is so frustrating to me! I miss the balance of the original L&O, as well as so many prior seasons of SVU: the police investigation and then the prosecution. Even though the last couple of episodes were the best of this season, they still really lacked in balance for me. And I definitely rolled my eyes when all the Simon issues were shown...how do you name your daughter after her aunt, who you've failed to stay in contact with over the last 5 years? Just silly...
Team Karen! I'm not in the right business to tolerate anyone being a diva, so Ivy with her "I'm singing it now!" really rubbed me the wrong way. Even though Karen was whiny, only one of her peers in that room said a nice thing to her. That's so intimidating for someone who's just starting out, no matter what field you're in. I don't think Ivy was meant to fill the antagonist role in the series, because they keep showing her vulnerabilities, but I just can't get around to rooting for her.
I did have to go back and watch because I missed a few things! First of all...Declan is right. Weird to say that, but I don't understand why Jack is so hung up on Amanda when he knew her for ONE SUMMER as a kid, and then she mysteriously came back into town and it's not even the real Amanda he's hung up on! Kinda pathetic. Jack needs some new friends.
I think Takeda is secretly training Fauxmanda to get some revenge of her own. I wouldn't have thought it before he assaulted Emily in her own home, but after that scene, it makes me think he's looking for a new pupil. Not that I completely understand their relationship in the first place.
This episode was much better than last week's! Definitely on Team Karen...I tried really hard to like Ivy, but her limited interactions with Karen this week were so unnecessary! Like Tom said in the pilot, is it too much to expect people to be both talented AND kind? She was obviously insecure, and Karen was new to the game, but it made it hard for me to like Ivy's character (and her little friends) when she was so snippy towards Karen. I really did like Nick Jonas in his role, and I'd love to see more of him! Here's hoping next week Eileen catches a break!
So glad Addison had an elevator moment with Jake. He's obviously mature, a gentleman, and clearly wants the same things as she does. This is a no-brainer, and kudos for Addie saying she could get ready!
McDreamy and McSteamy were great tonight! So adorable, between Mark speaking Spanish to Sofia and Derek learning to do Zola's hair. Laughed out loud when Bailey called him out on it.
I really expected to see proof at the end of the episode that Owen was cheating. I'm glad the issue wasn't resolved by the end of the episode, because it'll be a good storyline to take to the end of the season. I'd really love it if the show brought back Isaiah Washington to play Preston Burke again. Doubt it'll happen, but a girl can dream, right? I'll miss Grey's when it's on hiatus!
The performances at Regionals were a little mediocre in my opinion. I wasn't wowed or anything, and it was pretty obvious that New Directions would win. And then Quinn's car accident...such drama, and not good drama. So typical! I'm confused as to why phone calls couldn't be made...because in real life, THAT'S WHAT SOMEONE WOULD DO! I hope that they write her character out, not because I have some weird hatred of Quinn/Dianna, but because 1) it would be kinda refreshing if they managed to keep it a secretly that Dianna would be leaving the show, and 2) the way that truck hit her car, there's almost no chance a person would survive. At least make something in this show the least bit believable.
I rolled my eyes for most of this episode, mainly at Kurt. I really like Karofsky's character and I thought his suicide attempt was sad. However, every time they showed Kurt, I felt like the show was basically giving us Ryan Murphy in character form. And even though Quinn isn't high up on my list of favorite characters (and she expressed her opinion kinda insensitively), what really bothered me was when Kurt basically dismissed her pregnancy as though it wasn't traumatizing enough to ever warrant committing suicide. Bottom line is that you never know what might bring people to their breaking point: bullying, giving birth at the age of 16, dealing with the grief of losing someone you love. So preachy, but that really pushed my buttons when I watched the episode.
I don't think that they're writing Will off. Based on casting information, it seems like his two sisters are coming into town, and also his love interest from last season will be back. So while we may see less of him, it's more likely that we'll see different aspects of will outside the walls of a law firm or a courtroom.
I also didn't realize when I first commented that the show would skip another week. So annoying. And also so annoying that last night's episode was delayed by 21 minutes.
I try to forget that it was a crossover, because I totally agree with J. I didn't care about any of your snoozefest storyline options...just Jaddison. They're really cute together, and it was so nice that not only did they admit to having a deeper connection, but that it wasn't followed up by a silly kiss or wild office sex. I know Shonda likes for her characters to have sex all the time, but Jake respectfully walking away after that simple conversation showed the audience and Addie that he's such a gentleman! He's really playing all of his cards correctly.
I really liked this episode, as it opened up a few questions for the rest of the season. Like I'm not exactly sure what was up between Dana/Cary/the other ASA whose name I always forget. I'm secretly hoping we see more of what's going on in the State's Attorney's office than we usually do, because I think their dynamics are really interesting. Definitely disliked that Cary seemed incredibly blah this week. Maybe it's because I fell in love with him when he played Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls, but sometimes I feel like the show makes him act like he's battling depression or something.
Really interested to see what's going on in the Kalinda tax case, as it may shed a little more light on what happened with her and Peter.
I never, EVER expected Porter Scavo to be the father of Julie's baby! What an interesting little twist, even though I expected it once the twins were listening in on Lynette and Susan's conversations. It just seems so silly to me that Susan wouldn't be supportive of her daughter's decisions. I'm very interested to see how this storyline plays out...it's one we haven't really seen on DH before!
Equally as selfish this week...Gabi. To be expected of course, but I'm kinda confused as to why she can't hire a nanny to help with the girls. I guess it would deprive the audience of her antics. When it was revealed that Karen's cancer had spread, I figured she would be the one to die. However, Renee's conversation with the loan shark was extra creepy. Maybe there will be a double death?
I thought this was a great Cristina/Owen episode. I'm a fan of them, although I can understand why people don't think they fit together. I just think that they interact together really well. They're both hardcore in different ways. Even from their interactions fighting in therapy, I would rather watch them together than any other couple on the show...including Mer/Der.
Would've loved to see Amelia interacting with Meredith or Zola. I get that her presence at SG was more about Erica and the tumor, but sometimes it's those little forgotten things that make all the difference. I was also secretly hoping that Derek would head out to L.A., as I think it would be fun for him to see Addison in her "new" environment.
Charlotte was incredible with Mason! I love Addie, but I really love the way that Charlotte just gets it right. She does what's best for the people around her, including not being afraid to call them out if necessary.
Pretty disinterested in the Sam/Corrine storyline, but I think I would just rather see more Jaddison. I'm a big fan of the fact that he's such a gentleman, and he obviously cares about her in a very genuine way. Exactly what she needs...someone who will support her when it matters most.
As for Daniel collapsing on the beach, go back to the scene. We do see him falling down, but we DON'T actually see him being shot...there's a sound of a gunshot, and then the screen jumps to Daniel falling down. I don't think there's anything to it except a clever misdirection. It also seems like, in the first scene, the person who shot Tyler was wearing a black jacket. Interesting, considering that most of the men are in white tuxedos for the party.
I'm glad Tyler's actually dead now - what a crazy character to have around! It'll be interesting to see exactly how much he told Daniel regarding Emily. Also, if Tyler was at a hospital for the criminally insane, shouldn't that play into Daniel's defense? The dude showed up to his birthday party with a gun! I also hope that the information that Tyler gave Daniel was switched by Takeda or something.
I'm new to the game. I've never really been interested in American Idol, and I hate watching all those bad singers embarrass themselves. But after watching The Voice after the Super Bowl, I really like the set up of the blind auditions, and I find myself oddly invested in who the singers choose to be their coach. It also helps that Blake Shelton is hilarious and Adam Levine is oh-so-easy on the eyes.
After this episode, I seriously hoped that Susan's character will be the one to die. I can deal with Lynette and her separation storyline, Gabi's general hysterics, and even Bree's downward spiral. Susan, on the other hand, has nothing to contribute to this show. How utterly obnoxious it is to sabotage your child's adoption interview, specifically in the manner in which it was sabotaged. Just kind of silly to me, and a big downer on what I thought was otherwise a decent episode.
Oh, Lord, this is a bad idea. I mean, kudos to them if they do pull it off tastefully and respectfully, but Glee is bad enough when it spends weeks shooting an episode. I hope this last minute addition doesn't come off as tacky or unpolished.
This season of SVU definitely reminds me of L&O:CI. I never really got into that series because I liked the very linear plot that the L&O franchise had developed up until then. Honestly, I think that's what they do best. I just find myself not being able to get into this show anymore, which is disappointing. I still like the characters but I strongly dislike the way the writers are telling the story.
