Now Chuck lives in a world where lies are common place. He needs a girl who is used to it, who thrives on it. Otherwise, how would she survive? That girl is Blair. She jumped on the chance to get her hands dirty last episode. We're all outraged that Chuck sold Blair for a hotel and we're supposed to forget about it. Yet it's Jack Bass, he was messing with Chuck. Nobody messes with Chuck's mind like Jack Bass. Blair has manipulated Chuck for her own purposes as well, what do you think Blair would have done if she was in Chuck position? She freaks out over a plastic crown, never mind a hotel and everything she's worked for. Chuck has more then paid that back when he freed Blair from her royal marriage and gave up financial security. Meanwhile, he didn't ask anything in return and even apologized for his bad choices.
I miss Dan being hopelessly in love with Serena, the It-Girl out of his reach. He was so cute. Now he's just desperate. Isn't it interesting how him going after Blair and getting her seems more desperate then him pining for Serena? Its because Dan has never sunk to the levels he's sinking. Remember in season one where Nate was waiting for Serena and Dan runs into him? Dan was clearly jealous but he handled it. Now they have Dan running around plotting secretly because Blair is paying attention to Chuck? Also remember that Blair has exiled his sister. The last time Jenny was in town Blair wrote "Whore" all over her collection? Dan was always the good big brother, now he's dating the woman responsible for ruining her in New York? Dan always hated lies, he dumped Serena for it. Now he's putting up with Blair, who lies every time she opens her mouth. Ugh
I have to agree with some other people. I usually don't critic reviews, go ahead look at my history if if you don't believe me, but I really disliked all the "Fat Betty" remarks.
Betty may have gained some weight but she's still very attractive woman. My youngest sister struggles with her weight and she's constantly being teased at school and considers herself ugly. She doesn't eat anymore than the normal person, her body is just made that way. So it really infuriates me when I see people make ignorant "FAT" jokes, especially if they're public. It's no wonder eating disorders are still so common with females. Betty may not be the most likable character on T.V but that has everything to do with her attitude, not her weight.
Ok maybe I spoke too soon...I just looked at what Sara Goodman has been responsible for...Lots of Season 3 episodes...Including the one where Chuck forgets who he is...How soap opera can you get? She wrote in Diana and where-in-the-world is Chuck's mother plotlines as well. Also, Chair lovers she wrote the romantic Vera Wang wedding gown scene between Dan and Blair. So she's not completely pro-Chair, don't count your chickens. This is said with love, because I'm neutral in the conflict.
Hahaha FINALLY Josh Safran is out! If he went on a mission to make the show bad, he wouldn't have been able to succeed as well as he has this season. Captain goes down with the ship. Now, if Eric Daman would go with him, things might start getting better. When I first heard of Gossip Girl, I was not impressed. I never even read the books. But the show (at least the first season and parts of the second) was so incredible that I was hooked. If they can end GG strong, I'll be happy. In all honesty, this show never had a chance once they left high school.
How Gossip Girl should have ended, everyone graduating and we see them moving on after high school. I refuse to believe that a web master called "Gossip Girl" could be so omnipresent outside prep school. That's where the show lost its footing. After high school, your priorities change.
I loved this episode, this season hasn't been my favorite I'll admit it but I did love this finale. Bernadette and Howard have always been my favorites, even from their first date when they compared mother horror stories. I do like that these two are romantic without losing that twisted sense of humor this show is known for. The Ma slip ups were hilarious, mainly because we know most of the time Bernadette is supportive. Their little romantic gestures were adorable too, the star necklace and the "short and sweet" vows. Raj's heart was so perfect and it fit right in with the episode's theme. I loved the ending, it tied everyone together very nicely. But at the same time, it gave us lots to look forward.
As for Dan; I'll ignore his hair, even though that's hard, because someone's personal appearance should not be taken into account. He's been there for Blair a lot over this year but the way he treated Serena was pretty low. After all, he did once claim to love her. If he's capable of treating Serena like that, who he ended on good terms with, it's only the beginning for what's in store when he realizes that Blair really isn't as committed as he wants her to be. Give the girl a chance to breath dude! She just lost a baby (though she doesn't seem to remember that), got divorced, got in a car accident, gave up Chuck for God (glad they dropped that), and various other incidents. Also apparently Bart Base is alive, because the Devil can't die. You pick now to drop the L bomb?
Chuck may be an asshole but how many times does the guy have to beg? Either you forgive him or dump him. It could be said that he deserves both. About the hotel/money issues, Chuck and Blair come from a world where money is treated differently. They both have extremely materialistic backgrounds, so its no surprise both of them have sold each other out on multiple occasions. Chuck for a hotel, Blair for a tiara, to name just one each. Chuck jumps in the arms of another immediately afterwards, so does Blair. Nate (twice), Lord Marcus, Louis (twice), Carter, Cameron, Jack (almost twice), now Dan. They've both behaved badly towards each other in varying degrees. It's the inevitable outcome when you play games with the people you love.

I do love the contrast, this is what Don decides to do and this is what Betty decides. The show in my mind is about this couple. Don and Betty are the protagonists, even if we've only seen very little of her this season. Peggy and Pete are close seconds.
I actually think Pete's story is very interesting. This is the mental break down of someone. This is a deeply, deeply unhappy man. The more unhappy someone is, the worse things they do. I don't think Pete was ever really in love with Trudy, whenever he talks to her he has this fake tone of voice. I think he wants real love at any cost and its driving him mad.
Megan is young, vibrant, and still searching, what she's doing getting married to a man whose set in his ways, is beyond me. I don't think this marriage is going to last, just as I think the Francises are going to stay together. One element of this marriage that I like is Don's desperation. We've never seen it before. A character like Don could eventually grow stale unless he's faced with something out of his comfort zone. This entire marriage is out of his reach. He doesn't understand his new, young bride and he doesn't understand the world she chooses to live in. His attraction to youth, like Roger, is going to make his extremely unhappy. Meanwhile Betty is a lot happier with Henry because he's older, like the father figure she lost. He takes care of her and she (up until her illness and weight gain) knows how to present herself to make him look good.
I think Betty's mother screwed Betty up. She made her into a little doll, she never really grew up. She marries Don and they have the perfect family but she's not happy, something's missing. It's because her husband hasn't been honest with her a day in their marriage. This leads to the feeling of emptiness and bitter resentment, just nothing seems to be out of place. Everything looks grand on the outside, but it's rotten on the inside. That's what this show is about. With the Drapers broken up, it makes it a new show.
I think the main problem with Megan is her complete lack of understanding when it comes to Don. She may know his real indemnity but she doesn't know him. This makes me miss Rachel Menken. Now she was a woman, Megan seems shallow in comparison.
Finally Serena is getting her fashion sense back. Blair remains to be seen, those tacky patterns she's been wearing lately remind me of my Aunt Gertrude's curtains.
They're like a thousand miles apart. I'm all for their friendship but they seem to lack in the romance department.
And just so you know, I'm not some 14 year old girl who thinks romance includes sparkly vampires. I wanted to like Dan and Blair, I really did but there needs to be some passion.
Thank freaking God they're addressing the fact that Megan never really wanted to be a copy writer and that she never earned a damn thing. Her character was such a let down, at the end of Season 4 I was thrilled that Don was marrying her. Now its really bringing the show down. Megan has done nothing of substance at work and then all of the sudden she's saving accounts? I loved her parents, her dad setting her straight was fantastic.
I loved Roger and Mona, great scene. This pair of exes have more spark in them than the new, lovey dovey Drapers.
As always, loved Sally. Great to see Glen, holy crap we've watched these two grow.
Dan should go to Rome! Its only a summer, if you're a young couple sometimes you have to be apart to establish your career and its not like its the same hardship for Blair to fly off to Rome as it is for normal couples. Suck it up.
They're just looking for drama in a relatively drama-free couple.
I don't like Barney and Quinn either, when Ted said "You really love this girl, don't you"? I was like, really, already? At least with Nora we saw them get together and develop. With Quinn, it's like they just need someone to get Barney to the alter.
The writers are trying to build tension for this season but all they're doing is confusing me. I don't know what's going to happen, mainly because I'm not sure of the characters' motivations.
I'm trying to like Dair, they talk about a real relationship that's built on friendship as well as lust but something's just lacking with these two. The passion really isn't there. I'm all for talking in bed but doesn't that usually happen post-coital? They were a mile apart, like two kids on a sleepover, not lovers sharing ideas. Every time Blair talks to Dan, she has this horrible whine in her voice. And every time she talks about Louis I want to smack her, he was loving to her right up until the wedding. When she revealed to another man that she loved him instead. Louis may have been as interesting as dry toast but he put with a lot from Blair.
Maybe I don't like Dan and Blair because of Blair. I'm all for a genuine, sweet relationship but this isn't it. I miss Derena, I miss old Chair, and I miss Nate with random, cougars. Diana and Nate leave a sick taste in my mouth after Monday's revelation.
I miss Betty, this is a strange thing for me to say because I've always hated her. I know January Jones was away having a baby during the filming but we need more of her later on. Mad Men just doesn't seem like Mad Men without her. It's like when Joan's away from SCDP, it's not the same!
It will also be interesting to see how Betty's handling the changing times. She's pretty set in her ways.
I'm so glad we got that one episode with her but we need more. I never thought I'd be saying that.
to be a father and now, he's avoiding it. As Don pointed out, he's got everything but still isn't happy. Great acting moment when he's in the whorehouse and the girl is trying to please him, what dark humor! I love it.
As for Don, the biggest problem isn't that he's happy or that he's not cheating, it's the fact that he seems flawless now. You can't go from being mostly vice, to being pure. You can't go back that far. If you want to cut out the women, throw in the smoking. Give us something that reminds us of Don, not the washed over character whose completely transformed. Give him a work project! Something Don-like!
I loved this episode, just like I loved Mystery Date. I was worried that this season was going to be a disappointment, frankly I was let down by the premier. But these last two episodes have been excellent. The fight was great but I enjoyed Lane's despair more, he's clearly new to the Ad business and despite being obnoxious, Pete has a point. Lane is not an accounts man, he shouldn't try. You know what they say about mixing friends with business.
On that note, Megan is irritating me too. I loved when she was at the Campbells and blathering away about how she got into advertising when Pete just gives her this look. He's knows that she didn't work for a damn thing.
I have the same reaction to Pete as most viewers. He's like a big child, he can't handle the life he's clawed his way into. The saddest moment for me was when he looks at his daughter and says, "I take no responsibility for her". Its meant as a joke but clearly there's more underneath that. He didn't really want to be a father and now, he's avoiding it. As Don pointed out, he's got everything but still isn't happy. Great acting moment when he's in the whorehouse and the girl is trying to please him, what dark humor! I love it.
