I gave it a B. The start of the season was a definite A+ and then it lost some steam part way through. The arc leading into the finale was good up until the actual finale. I think Gary Glasberg, producer should fire Gary Glasberg, writer. It had such possibilities, but was a disaster from the writing to the directing to the editing. In order to set up the big finish, they managed to make most of the agents look incompetent on the way. In fact it was my least favourite episode, made more so by the presence of the ghost of Mike Franks. Bring in the Ghost Whisperer already and let him cross over. Please? I also didn't enjoy your favourite, Cabin Fever. I love Fornell (and Joe Spano broke my heart), but I prefer justice to revenge and, in my opinion, they set up Sergei to be murdered. I'm growing tired of the ongoing vengeance themes - if not Ziva, then Gibbs, Vance & Fornell. My favourite episode was Grounded; it had smart, savvy Tony and Bishop and was a great team episode. Tony even got to shoot someone. Wow! Parental Guidance Suggested was terrific too with its very creepy killers. And So It Goes and Cadence were also right up there. One of my favourite things about Cadence was the respect and admiration that Ellie Bishop showed toward Tony. She really is the only one in years who has truly treated him as Senior Field Agent. That's my pet peeve for this season; the apparent promotion of McGee to SFA. I'm glad Tony is not the "idiot child in the corner" any more, but I would love to see him treated a bit more like Gibbs' second in command. I thought the growth of Bishop was well done throughout the year. She's learned more and more about being part of a team. So the season wasn't without its problems, but overall was pretty good. I hope that the start of Season 13 has Gibbs taking a step back and letting his team do more of the heavy lifting. And I really hope he stops seeing a particular ghost.
So upset that it's going away - and that last episode: wow!
Bishop is growing on me. Just don't see them killing off Gibbs, out of action for wounds maybe, not dead. Sorry, as much as I like Tony's father, his episodes don't do it for me. Tony was in a relationship with Jeanne Benoit. I always thought they would bring her back into his life somehow. If Ziva wants to come back, even for a visit, this will be the time with Gibbs being wounded. If not, I miss her, but she has her own life. Side note, anyone remember the last time Gibbs had to head slap Tony? Grade B+
E but it should be and F. Bishop, Zoe, Parsa and Sergei all fell flat and did not make me want to watch each week with out fail like seasons past.
I noticed you did not include the infamous cliffhanger episode of Gibbs life in the balance. For the season I would say B+ because I see an evolution (pleasantly so) in the main characters except Gibbs, who has been reduced to one word commands, similar to "sit heel, stay," etc. Then the shooting sequence where we maybe, sorta, kinda, maybe not lose Gibbs altogether off the series. Big mistake not recasting the Diva.character when CDP wanted off the show. Killing Gibbs equals killing the show. Bishop is getting better if the writers will give her better material. Finally, ratings and demos have taken a dive when Ziva left. Wake up and smell the coffee! Bring back someone Ziva-desk and do not kill Gibbs.
That last episode was bogus, which is why I didn't include it. I don't for a second believe that Gibbs is dead, merely injured.
I love the Last Ship, but I'm really looking forward to the return of Defiance. I like Dominion too, but Defiance is my favorite summer show.
I gave it an F. The Zoe and Tony relationship is not Mature when you discuss using Handcuffs while having sex in the middle of an office. Bishop does nothing but Gossip and Abby still has not grown up....Gibbs, Gibbs Gibbs..come on already!
When did they have sex in the bullpen?Apparently I missed an exciting episode and I thought I saw all 24 of them.Just out of curiosity, were you ok with ziva and Ray making out in the break room or did you call the FCC on that one too?
Oh my God, Douglas I can't believe you catered to the Ziva crazies with that option Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I'm not good with episode titles but I liked this season and gave it an A and I am looking forward to next season. Couple of stand out episodes was the Christmas one where Tim was writing the letter to his father. Another was the one you mentioned---Gibbs and Tobias at Gibbs cabin after Diane's death. A lot are STILL complaining that Tim was put to the forefront over Tony. I don't believe that at all. This season was a season of change for Tony. There comes a time in a series--especially one that's been on for quite some time--where characters must develop to make things more interesting. I, for one couldn't be more pleased that they have moved Tony away from being the "class clown" ............ Douglas I hope you have a great summer and hope you are reviewing some summer shows! I enjoy reading your reviews! All the rest of you NCIS regulars here---have a great summer and see you this fall !!!!!!!!!
I think the issue is for 8 year we didn't have NCIS so it trying to bring NCIS back
