Yeah, it's very interesting. No matter what they do, certain aspects of the future always get carried over. Sylar already posed as Nathan in Fugitives, and he could easily do it again.

Ravenhill I agree to your post and He was also posing as Nathan at the start of this season as well. Sylar will be a great Asset to Samuel as a newly joined Carney but I'm still wondering where his story is going. I loved the Baptize scene with Sylar.

I wish the writers would let sylar use more of his powers besides electricity and telepathy. Does anyone know which powers sylar actually has right now?
I got:
Shapeshifting
Regeneration
History of Objects
Telepathy - this is the ability to move things with your mind right?
Understanding an ability by looking at the brain and then gaining it, now that I think about it this is the biggest bullshit of an ability - what would you call it?
but does he also have the empathy ability?
Can he fly?
I think it be cool if he had the teleportation ability - now that would be creepy

Oh, there are some other things mentioned in Five Years Gone that are happening anyway. In that episode, Noah and Sandra were divorced. Thats happened. Matt also mentioned that Noah was hiding his son, Matthew, because he had a power. That has also happened.

Thanks for pointing those out Ravenhill. I really think (hope) the show is generally headed in that direction. There was an epic battle in that episode, or what appeared to be as our perspective was kept in another room. I would LOVE to see taht fight.
Nick: Sylar did learn empathy from Arthur Petrelli, but we haven't really seen him use it, so I'm wondering if that is going in what I call the Caitilin file: things we are supposed to forget about.
Sylar also has Elle's electical bolts, the ability to tell when somebody is lying. I don't think he can fly as Nathan could, unless in manipulating his mind to make him think he was nathan, Matt somehow implanted that ability. Really, Sylar's core ability is "knowing how things work," which is what he gets from peering at people's brains. A little silly perhaps, but it is what it is.

Sylar has performed Empath two ways so far: Using on Elle to gain her Electricity Powers and from the ShapeShifting Guy. He mightve also done it on Nathan to gain flight because in the last scene where he throws Nathan back through the window Sylar is either Levatating himself using telekinesis or flying because of Flight. Their has been GREAT debate if Sylar can fly in the past because their are soo many moments that people recall that he either flys off, levitates, or is on top of buildings really fast.

I really wish that they hadnt made Sylar an Empath. I wish he couldve stayed as the head slicing fearful asshole that he was. I feel his bad ass component is gone.

I can't wait to see what they are going to do with Sylar in Matt's body. That's going to be a great scene when his body and mind meet, kind of like when Hiro met his future self, but better.

I dont think sylar uses empathy to take abilities anymore. I think he was able to take the shapeshifters ability somehow while he was dying and took flying from nathan before he slit his throat by using his ability to know how things work. I dont know how he does it but I think he still slices peoples heads because he likes it. He didnt always remove the skull to look at the brains so maybe he is able to understand how thier abilities work simply by examining them closely.
