Samuel's Master Plan

I agree with everyone.  Lots of really good ways this show could go.  But unless any of us have any real influence over the writers, we might just end up watching Claire and Gretchen's experiences as a sorority pledge for the rest of the season.

I keep watching beause there's still a good chance this show will go in the right direction.  Especially since there's so many people on this site who see the obvious ways to improve the show.  I gotta believe that the writers are aware of what they need to do, but are just trying to build up to it in a way that will bring most of their viewers back all at once.

Hopefully, I'm not being too optimistic.

If this IS the final season and we DO end up watching entirely too much of the Claire/Gretchen snore story, I am seriously going to consider giving up watching television entirely.

so we know that Samuel wants to correct some butterfiles he made in his past...and that is why he manipulated Hiro into joining his carnival which I might add was perfectly done with Charlie.  I think his master plan is coming out....He wants to obtain power thats for sure, but to do what is a mystery...Samuel kicks ASS!

    So samuel wants something . . .

I don't think it's benevolence toward Mohinder, either. 8 weeks ago was beteen the end of last season and now. I originally thought Danko killed Joseph and took the compass as part of last season's operations. Maybe the Mohinder death (not sure if it's murder, yet) is part of the Danko-Joseph story and that Danko killed Joseph between the seasons as a solo vigilante, setting the stage for this season. Perhaps one of Samuel's prime motivation's is to get his brother Joseph back (I hope his plan is bigger than that).

Not sure how Mohinder fits in, but he apparrently does. Maybe he pulled a Sylar and teamed up with Danko (I doubt it, but it's worth pondering).

On the flip side, it's possible he was behind Joseph's death. He used the old time traveller to the point of death just to get leverage with Hiro so that he wouldn't lose that power from his family. Perhaps Joseph's death was a "desparate measure" he needed to advance his master plan.

We still do not know the plan, we just know it involves revenge, fixing some evil butterflies, trying to recruit Peter and Tracy (he has Hiro and the Sylar-body, now), and harrassing Claire and HRG.

I do think it has to be more than just gaining power or initiating world destruction.  It will have something to do with his idea of what his "family" needs and what he needs from his "family".

About the only thing I feel comfortable saying with certainty is that whatever Samuel wants "fixed" from eight weeks ago, his motives are anything but benevolence. Whatever he needs Hiro to fix will benefit Samuel and Samuel only. That is largely what makes him a great villain -- totally selfish, and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his selfish ends. I love this character.

Mohinder's research can find everyone with abilities, right?  Or probably something to do with the virus

It's almost definite that Mohinder will be saved by Hiro and Samuel, since it was revealed that Nathan was the character for the original season that will be leaving the show.  Which was pretty obvious since Nathan was killed by Sylar at the end of the last season.

Samuel also must be responsible for killing him, because if he wasn't, he would have just had the other time traveler take him back in time and help him save Mohinder/Joseph, but he needed someone who wouldn't tell the rest of the carnival family. Assuming the other guys power's worked like Hiro's where they would both need to physically travel together through time.  Samuel probably just framed Danko to cover his tracks.

But my questions are these: Why did Mohinder join the carnival? Why did they call him Joseph? Why did Samuel kill him? What made Samuel realize that he needs Joseph alive now?

Finally things are getting interesting again.

Also, imagine how much better this season would have been if this was the second or third episode?

Maybe samuel killed mohinder because his power was caused by the formula and samuel doesn't want ordinary humans intruding on his "family".

I dont know Ravenhill on that one because Peters power technically comes from the serum as well but Samuel is really into him? I'm thinking that it was completely an accident that Mohinder died because probably Samuel was trying to convince him to join the carny family and Mohinder saw through his intentions.  Then they struggled and he died!  Probably Samuel wants all of his Fathers research.
