Ok is anyone else confused. At the end of last season, Nathan was dead, in the ground, but made to look like Sylar. Sylar had been forced to think he was Nathan and did a shape shift to look like him. Well, this season, Nathan was learning his "new" abilities, but Sylar came out of the ground, got into it with the police and went to the circus. All of this was going on while Nathan was walking around, in Sylar's body, learning his "new" abilities. So my question is, where is the 'Nathan' that was walking around while the 'Sylar' from the ground was in the circus? And how could 'Sylar' come out of the ground if 'Nathan' was in a freezer? Somebody messed up on the script writing! Or is it me?

Just to clear up fusion fan, the "Sylar" that was buried at the end of last season would have been the shapeshifter from whom Sylar got the ability. In the S3 finale, Sylar killed Nathan, and then was going for the president when Peter stopped him by jabbing a syringe in his neck. When Sylar was out cold, Angela and HRG had Parkman put Nathan's memories and personality into Sylar's body, and forced Sylar to shapeshift to look liike Nathan. Nathan's actual body then went into a casket and placed in a storage unit.
Into this season, "Nathan" was perplexed by his "newfound" abilities. Wasn't sure what was happening to him, but knew something wasn't right. Then he found out he had his memory wiped by the Haitian about an incident from his youth where a girl died. He confronted the girl's mother with the truth, after which she had "Nathan" shot and buried in a shallow grave. It is from here where Sylar emerged. Obviously, the trauma of being shot sparked the change, never mind that Sylar's ability to heal allowed him to survive. BUT, because Parkman had invaded Sylar's consciousness (apparently absorbed into his own mind) Sylar had no idea who he was or how he got where he was. While this was going on, we didn't see Nathan at all. "Nathan" didn't return until Sylar transformed in his sleep while at the circus, fully as "Nathan," had no idea where he was and flew away. Then pete and "Nathan" found nathan's body, tracked down Parkman with the guidance of the Haitian and pieced together what happened. And now Sylar is back, having an internal battle with Nathan's consciousness.

I have been following. When I can't watch I DVR to make certain I don't miss an episode. So since its "me hun" pleae explain. I WANT TO KNOW! And who is "defo"?

Thank you SO much Kal15. You broke it down perfectly for me. One question tho, who had lunch at the sushi bar with mother petrelli if sylar was in the ground? Remember? She had the dream (or vision) she would meet him there and then he turned into Sylar? Was that Sylar who had been forced to think he was Nathan? What about when he was calling Peter who NEVER returned his phone calls? When discovering his new powers? All of this was going on while Sylar WAS at the circus. Help!

none of that was happening while he was at the circus. The person eating at the sushi bar was the "Nathan" version of Sylar before the circus

You should rewatch or you've missed a t least one episode where "Nathan" was shot and put in the ground
