Abraham had been hunting the Master for decades and led the fight last season. However, he lost his faith when the creature survived outside in the sun rather than burn to a crisp. This season, Setrakian will search for the Occido Lumen, an ancient text that may possibly hold the key to the Master's downfall.

The Master's chief lieutenant managed to infiltrate Setrakian's liar causing our heroes to go on the run. In order to locate them, Eichhorst will supervise a group of special strigoi which includes Eph's ex-wife. Will there be any post–World War II flashbacks this season?

Vasiliy quickly became Setrakian's right-hand man, due to his unemotional nature. In Season 2, his fight to take back New York continues. While Abraham searches for the fabled "Occido Lumen," Vasiliy will clear out the strigoi block by block. Let the muncher hunting begin!

Dutch caused serious trouble last season by crashing the internet and disrupting communication. She has since been trying to make good, and formulated a plan for Eph to broadcast a warning over the Emergency Alert System. This season, she's an essential part of the resistance and growing closer to Fet every day. Can a relationship between them last?

Gus worked briefly alongside Eichhorst, and is responsible for transporting the Master to Manhattan. From the moment he lost his best friend and family to the strain, Gus has been fighting to redeem himself. Last season, a mysterious group of rogue strigoi offered to make him their "daywalker" in the fight against the Master. This season, his mission continues and Gus will inevitably come across the other freedom fighters strengthening their cause.

Palmer is the human villain of our story, striking a deal with the Master in exchange for immortality. Of course, the Master denied him this, granting the old man improved health instead. In Season 2, Palmer continues to help spread the strain while publicly pretending to fight it. The villain takes on a pretty young assistant this season, who may ultimately disrupt his wicked plans.

Young Zack (now played by Max Charles), watched as Eph attempted to kill his mother last season. Though he understands she is a strigoi, he clings to the hope she can be cured. This season, Zack is much more conflicted and angry with his father. Eph is determined to destroy the strain, leaving Zack vulnerable to Kelly's machinations. Will she make contact with her son?

Nora and Ephraim clear out a nearby lab in order to work on their biological strigoi-killer. Will they find a way to infect the infected, bringing an end to the strain once and for all?
