Trust me, I'd prefer a boring Dan to a lust-filled Chuck. Instead of him going home and drowning his sorrows in a bottle of whiskey, he goes and sleeps with some random woman (oh, yeah, REAL character development there). So, is that what he's going to do EVERY time a girl rejects him? He's going to drown himself in loveless, meaningless sex? Is he going to find some other virgin to sleep with when he can't have Blair? Is he going to go off and have wild orgies every time Blair looks at him cross-wise or none at all? CAN CHUCK BE CONSISTENT IN HIS SUPPOSED REDEMPTION? If you're going to change and show the "love of your life" that you're not the same guy, then try not to sleep with every woman that throws herself at you, no matter how much you hurt.
You Chair stans are pathethic.

And see, @Kathleen, this is why I can't take Chair stans seriously when you guys claim its just a TV show and the you guys wouldn't want a guy like Chuck in real life. You guys wax poetic about something that is clearly so toxic and mortifying it is hard to believe yuo guys DON'T go for psychos like Chuck. I grew up with a Dad like Chuck, and now have a guy that is way more like Dan.

Poor S in love with lonely boy. Disappointed in Blair, thought was S friend, no BEST FRIEND.
Do you think Dan and Blair will last, maybe for a couple of episodes and then finish.
Hope Chuck and Dan's publicist stick for a while so as to destroy Dan's career.
PLEASE Writers, hook Serena with a Handsome Business Man or Nate, excellent on screen chemistry from season 3. Nate should follow the footsteps of his maternal grandfather and will become a politician and Serena nest to him running Nate's business.XOXO

I loved Chuck and Blair in the beginning but their relationship became toxic. They needed to grow but apart from eachother.
Dan and Blair are like fresh air. Showing viewers what true love should be.
If in a relationship respect is lost than it cannot be a healthy one. Dan and Blair need a chance to atleast be in one.
Its sad when the majority of people are rooting for a relationship that mirrors their own unhealthy one. GG writers are capable of making Chuck a changed man and have him live happily ever after with Blair. Where as in real life sorry to tell you, people rarely ever change.

AMAZING comment Jennifer! BRAVO! I completely agree.
It would be a huge letdown and creatively very boring if the writers don't start rebuilding Chuck and Blair and give the audience a decent ending to the series. One thing that makes Chuck and Blair a compelling, beautiful and NON-cliche love story is that it's not about finding the love of your life and living happily ever after. It's about how you can find the love of your life and the timing and your own issues can screw it up. The journey is about Chuck and Blair each growing as people so they can finally be happy with the person they really love. Throwing that away for something safe, simple, and frankly very cliche (Dan and Blair) would be anti-climactic to put it nicely. Dan and Blair work as a friendship but nothing more.
It's got to be Chuck and Blair and it appears the vast majority of fans agree. :)

To Jennifer: what exactly does 'key relationships' mean in your opinion? Is a relationship based on mutual hurt, one that went through X betrayals and fights and so on and so forth really worthy of the "key" kind of focus?
I personally believe neither Blair nor Chuck would be able to grow emotionally, had they ever gotten back together. It's just a path that leads nowhere new. How many chances have they already given one another? A gazillion, that's right. Has anything good ever happened out of it? Nope. I hate all those lines Blair most usually gets, when she talks about fate and destiny and 'meant-to-be' and whatnot. Does the whole point of C/B really boil down to this 'factor' only, or what? I dare say the show would prove totally childish if they made C/B endgame with this reasoning. (Especially considering as there's a way better one on the pro-D/B side.)
From my observations, Chuck/Blair fans tend to say how 'Blair isn't really Blair while not with Chuck', and vice versa,

Lord no they aren't soulmates. I think the grand Dan and Blair experiment needs to end and the writers need to get back to the key relationships they've been ignoring to focus so much energy on these two. While the Dan and Blair experiment has created a number of excited fans along with a few critics (who seem to be nostalgic for a Seth and Summer redux. Interestingly alot of these critics are firmly back in the Chuck and Blair camp this season) it's been a net negative for the show overall:
It's alienated a huge number of fans that are emotionally invested in other couples and characters that have been given short shrift so the writers can focus so exclusively on these two. I think the writers vastly underestimated how many people remain invested in these other relationships (mainly Chuck and Blair but other couples too) and characters. I suspect that they thought since Blair is the most popular character in the active online fandom they could replace Ed with Penn and DB with CB

GOD YES. They're the freshest thing on GG since forever. Honestly, if they DON'T get together at some point, the writing will just cease to be credible. The potential of this relationship is enormous! The characters need that. The show needs that. The freaking FANS need that, at last. Why not let it happen…?

There needs to be another option. Not just "No" but "F*** NO" This is the silliest thing I've ever heard. No way is the writing saying Dan and Blair are soulmates. I think Penn just loves working with Leighton since she's the best actress in the cast and this is the most people have cared about Dan since Derena in S

I hadn't seen this poll! Just voted that definitely not!! Putting ships aside, I'm gonna focus on Blair. There is more to relationships than liking old movies. You can have that with anyone. Soulmates are about people who are like minded and operate the same. Who share a connection so strong there is wordless understanding. People who get each other completely. Who, with flaws and all, still love and appreciate each other.
I don't see this at all with Dan and Blair. I see them as friends and Dan tolerates things about Blair and appreciates others but there isn't this like minded passion for each other at all. He is her Ashley right now. He likes the idea of her probably because he wants to be inside of the UES world just like Scarlett loved Ashley because she yearned to be a meek lady like her mother. But once together, they'd never be happy. He wouldnt understand her in the long run and he'd never fulfill all that she is. She'd either order him around, or she'd allow him to suppre

Dan and Blair are definitely soulmates. Chuck and Blair had a fiery passion and were meant to be together for a time, but they have grown up. (I am saying this as a person who screamed at the television when Chuck slept with Jenny.) Blair is different know. She is powerful, mature, and she deserves the great relationship that Dan has to offer. Dan deserves Blair. After years of Serena, he deserves a counterpart like Blair to enjoy literature and old movies with on a frequent basis. I think their relationship will be super STEAMY if they every get together. (I am keeping my fingers crossed!!) DAIR! DAIR! DAIR! - they are the best couple on t.v.!

Agree with kate^^ Chair have been destined to be together since the start.. Their relationship may not be perfect, but that's what keeps things interesting between them! I mean, with Dan and Blair, they might be cute for a while but after, they would just get a bit boring. I also prefer their banters rather than a romance.
I think there is too much going on with Blair right now; the pregnancy, the "complicated" fairytale, and her feelings for Chuck (which I hope still remain!!)
Btw I'm really liking the "Duck" bromance!!! (Dan and Chuck)

Dan & Blair are NOT soulmates. And I'm not saying this b/c I'm a die hard Chuck & Blair fan. DB have hated each other, and now all they've done is put aside their differences and realized they have some things in common. Maybe at some point they'll think they're meant to be just b/c in some ways they're totally opposite & they sort of want to try that elixir that doesn't fit AT ALL into their "type", but no. I don't know if Dan & Serena are soulmates, but anyone could argue that they are. Chuck & Blair are definitely soulmates, for reasons I don't have time to spill out, amongst them being that they are more identical than Dan and Blair ever could be. But I'm getting off topic. Dair are not soulmates, and the only thing this poll proves is that more Dair fans are on this site than Chair ones. That proves nothing.

I respect the Dan/Blair relationship. It seems like they took it in a different direction then orignally antcipated. But I am a Chair fan, I am sorry, something about them just drags me in. I think Penn realizes his character is getting more reconignition from the Dair thing thats why he always promotes it. Because if you have ever seen a Leighton Meester interview she always says how much she loves working with Ed, and pushes for them. IDK just my thoughts. I hope the writers redeem all the characters this season really give them some sort of growth.
