Joe and Stein: You got a problem with that?
Joe: Do you know who I am?
Barry: Not Joe West I'm guessing.

Joe: Iris, whatever you may be feeling right now about Barry, that man does love you. That kind of love is rare.
Iris: Dad, I wish it were that simple.
Joe: [laughs] Simple. Look, only you know what's good for you. But with the kind of lives that you two have, that love between the two of you, that is the one thing that should stay simple.
Joe: I wanted to be sure you heard what I said in there. I couldn't be happier.
Barry: Okay. Great.
Joe: Why didn't you ask my permission? I told you the story of me asking Francine's dad's permission like 100 times.
Barry: [laughing} At least. Yeah. That's a great story.
Joe: But you missed the point?
Joe: Hold on. Y'all want to put a bunch of magnets against my skull to look into the mind of a psychotic, murderous ape?
Harry: Yeah.
Joe: Fine.
Joe: This is not something you keep from your father, Iris. You should have known that. [points at Barry] And you should have, too.
Barry: I know, Joe.
Joe: I can understand why they didn't want to tell me [points at Cisco and Caitlin]. Because they didn't grow up under the same roof that you did. They don't know what my baby girl means to me, Barry. But you do.
Barry: I know.
Barry, I'm a cop. If I canceled my plans every time I'm in danger, I'd never leave the house.
Iris: I'm sure that you've been through a great deal, and I can appreciate you feeling like this is suddenly the right time to want me in your life, but that doesn't mean that it's the right time for me.
Joe: Iris...
Iris: No, dad, it's OK. I've thought about this a lot, and it wasn't fair for me to make you the bad guy. [turns to Francine] So I want you to hear this from me. I don't hate you, Francine. I do wish you well. But we have lived separate lives for over 20 years. Let's keep it that way.
When I still a beat cop, me and my partner were on patrol, and dispatch came on the radio. A little girl had called in. She said her mom had taken some pills, and she wouldn't wake up. The little girl gave the address. The address was mine.
Cisco: You expecting trouble?
Joe: Cops always expect trouble. In this city, I expect super evil flying monsters.
Cisco: That's a solid expectation. [Joe laughs]
Iris: Yeah, but he should go. Someone should try to get through to him.
Joe: Maybe his best friend?
Cisco: Joe, believe me. I have tried!
Joe: I meant her.
