Travis: Theo was Michael’s you. He and Michael, they went through academy together. They were probies together, roommates. Theo was a legacy kid, so he rose up the ladder faster than Michael or I, but we were best friends, the three of us. And then suddenly, Michael died, and it was Theo’s fault.
Vic: Must have sucked to go through that without your best friend.
Travis: You know I hate this weird part after a friendship fight, after it’s done where you both kinda feel icky and awkward and not back to normal with each other.
Vic: Yeah in a relationship you just have sex.
Travis: Vic, for the millionth time, I’m not going to have sex with you.
Vic: Why not?
Vic: I’m sad. Is that weird?
Theo: Pretty normal to feel sad about a breakup.
Vic: Is it a breakup if it was never really a thing?
Theo: I think it might be worse.
Travis: Tell me. Tell me what happened. They won’t tell me what happened. What? Theo, tell me. Please, tell me what happened.
Theo: I thought the wind was upslope from the east, so I told him it was safe to shelter in place. I’m sorry.
Travis: What?
Theo: Travis, you know I love him. You know Michael was my brother.

Travis: You gotta get out. Please get out of my house.
Travis: I’m not over him. I’m not over Michael, not even a little, and I hate it. I hate that four years on and every morning feels just as painful and awful and confusing as the day he died. And I hate that I have to find a place to hide the mess every single day to even just be a person, and I hate knowing that no matter how well I hide it, the very next morning it’s going to be there waiting for me full force. Vic: What?
Travis: Did you even care about Ripley?
Vic: OK.
Travis: Did you? Because if you did, if you did honestly, if you did care about him…
Vic: Travis I cared about him… I care about him so much that I am scared I am never going to care about anyone like that again, and just hoping that someday there’s going to be another him is the only thing that’s kept from me being entirely consumed by the loss of him.
Travis: So what Theo is another him?
Vic: I don’t know. Maybe, I hoped, but as soon as I found out who he was, it was done because you were more important. I thought about your feelings immediately. I thought about your feelings exclusive, and the most painful part about all of this is you haven’t thought about mine at all. Do you realize that?
Vic: All right, so what’s the plan here? We’re not gonna try to fix this? We’re just done ‘cause of this Theo stuff. Years and years of friendship in the garbage because of some guy.
Travis: No, no, nope. Not some guy. Not some guy. The guy who killed my husband. How are you not getting this?
Vic: Travis, I didn’t know.
Travis: And then you did, and now here we are. Look, look at us. Hey, we’re screaming on the side of the street.
Vic: No, you’re the only one screaming.
Travis: Well, I’m the only one who has something to scream about, Vic.
Vic: Oh my god, I could scream about how inappropriate and unprofessional you were with those kids today. I can scream about how you seem to have lost the ability to care about anyone’s feelings but your own. I could scream about you giving me the silent treatment for four days when you could have just talked to me. I could scream about you just calling me a liar. What is that? What are you doing?
Travis: Fine, you’re not a liar. You’re just reckless and selfish and inconsiderate and void of boundaries.
Vic: Yeah, cool list, dude. OK, Here’s mine: You’re judgmental and you’re controlling and you just expect everyone to do things the way that you imagine them to be in your brain, and when they don’t not only is that person an idiot, they’re a monster.
Travis: What are you doing? What are you doing? Oh my god.
Michael: Travis Lee Montgomery…
Travis: Wait, wait, wait.
Michael: Will you…
Theo: Oh twist.
Travis: Wait, Michael Cooper Williams…
Michael: Will you…
Travis: On three.
Travis and Michael: One, two, three, will you marry me? Yes.
Emmett: Things still rough between you two? You should give her a break. It’s not like she’s still dating the guy.
Travis: That’s not the point.
Emmett: Then what is the point?
Travis: The point is even after she found out he was the guy who took everything from me, she still heard his side, she still heard him out. What is that?
Emmett: That’s being a person I guess.
Vic: We were saying good-bye, and he was upset.
Travis: I’m sorry losing you was so hard on him, but he cost me…
Vic: Michael, he was upset about losing Michael.
Travis: Well, I said I was done talking about this, so I don’t even know what I’m doing.
Vic: For the record, that is exactly why we’re in this situation.
Travis: What?
Vic: Your whole ‘let it scab over’ pseudo-science crap. That’s what you did with Michael’s death.
Travis: You have no idea what I did Michael’s death.
Vic: And you did it with your dad, and it’s what you’re doing right now.
Travis: Oh god.
Vic: You think it’s the mature way of doing things, but it’s actually the opposite ‘cause its ostrich theory.
Travis: Hey, I can’t believe it. I found a spot right in front of your house.
Michael: Oh OK, that means it’s going to work out, you and me.
Travis: Is that what the spot means?
Michael: Yeah, movie parking. Drive up one second before the show or reservation or whatever and bam, parking right in front of the venue. We’re in a terribe, wonderful unrealistic rom-com.
Travis: Oof, that means we still have annoying hijinks, trials and tribulations, a makeup, a breakup before happily ever after, and I gotta say, I don’t know if I have the energy for that.
Michael: Why do people even like those movies? That sounds exhausting. Good thing that isn’t us.
Travis: Yeah, it’s a really good thing.
Travis: Why do we even bother? They’re just gonna do it again. We revive them. They get fluids. They shoot up again. The same stupid thing over and over and over.
Vic: You need to keep your opinions to yourself.
Travis: How is wanting people to do the right thing always seem to make me the unreasonable one?
Vic: It doesn’t but thinking you’re the only arbiter of the right thing does.
Jack: ‘Cause I heard a rumor about you and Hughes.
Theo: Oh, uh, no, that’s not a thing.
Jack: You sure?
Theo: Yeah, I’m sure.
Jack: ‘Cause I see you guys making eyes at each other. You seem to have some good chemistry.
Theo: You know Hughes and I were almost a thing, but then she found out I’m the guy that killed Montgomery’s husband, so now we’re not, OK?
Vic: You know we have to work together.
Travis: I am perfectly capable of working with you.
Vic: Then we have to talk about it.
Travis: There’s nothing to talk about. You’ve made your stance pretty clear.
Vic: How? Oh my god, how? It’s been three days. You won’t even stay in the same room.
Travis: Well, now your boyfriend’s here, so you can talk to him.
Vic: Oh my god, he’s not my boyfriend.
Travis: I’ll ask you again, did you end it with him?
Vic: We weren’t even anything to end.
