Recap

Eliza is excited about finally having a night at home alone with a sandwich and binge-watching the new Korean show Trout Royale -- Aaron will be playing poker with his guy friends.

A customer comes in trying to find a particular selection of films, but none seem to be in stock. Eliza suggests they do inventory, and Timmy agrees. Eliza is about to head out, but Timmy tells her she should stay since it was her idea, and she reluctantly agrees.

As Eliza works through inventory, she video chats with Aaron. He offers to come home early so they can cuddle and watch TV together. She insists he stays out with his boys.

Carlos tries to explain to Connie the difference between "Room" and "The Room." Hannah remarks how fun inventory is but then remembers Carlos has his accounting final the following day. She says Carlos should ask Timmy to let him go home and study. Carlos assures her he'll be fine.

Timmy offers to order pizza for everyone. Eliza urges everyone to restock faster so she can get home for Trout Royale before Aaron gets home.

Timmy gets a call from his mother and immediately has to leave. Eliza goes after him, begging him not to go, but he informs her that he can't refuse his mother's "emergency" request. Eliza tells him to hurry back and lets him borrow her car.

Timmy visits his parents at their care home. They are still arguing. His father is running an ice cream scam, and his mother has stolen a woman's wheelchair. They tease him about Eliza, but he tells them he's currently dating three women.

He offers them a movie night, having brought a DVD of what he believed was Lilo and Stitch but is actually Saw III.

Back at Blockbuster, Eliza complains that they'd be much faster if Timmy were here. Connie reassures her that she's done inventory many times before and is an expert, though she is getting sleepy.

Hannah and Carlos explain to Eliza that Connie never stays up this late. Eliza complains that she should be enjoying her "me" time at home.

Carlos gets a call from his parents, wishing him good luck on his big exam tomorrow. His dad shares that he has picked up some night shifts at work. Carlos heads to the back. Eliza calls after him, but he tells her he needs to study.

Timmy puts on Saw III for his parents, gives them popcorn and soda, and leaves.

Eliza heads to the back with a stack of DVDs. Hannah tries to help her, but the stack ends up falling and scattering. Eliza is angry. Timmy returns and promises to order pizza. Connie walks by, sniffing a DVD.

Carlos studies in the break room. Hannah checks on him, urging him to come back to work for a little bit, as Connie is poorly describing movies she has never seen, based solely on the titles.

Timmy orders the pizzas, but while he is doing that gets another call. It's his dad.

Timmy casually strolls out front, grabs Eliza's car keys, and runs out the door. Eliza calls after him, telling him not to allow his parents to manipulate him.

Connie is in the breakroom, asleep, pouring milk. Eliza cleans it up and wakes Connie. Eliza wonders why she doesn't want to spend time with Aaron when he's doing everything right. She realizes she feels weighed down.

Connie is asleep again. Eliza gives her a flavored energy shot.

Timmy returns to the care home. His parents had made a bet to see how long it would take him to return. Timmy gets mad at them for being selfish and not considering how important his store is to him. He says they have to figure out how to get along with each other themselves, and he leaves.

Eliza and Connie emerge from the break room. Instead of continuing to work, Connie does little dance through the store, then starts knocking DVDs off the shelves and commenting inappropriately to the customers.

Carlos films on his phone. Hannah urges Carlos to admit that he prefers this to accounting.

Carlos insists he can't "come out" as a filmmaker to his parents after he only recently told them he was bisexual.

Eliza comes over and asks why they're not working. When Hannah explains, Connie joins in, telling Carlos he doesn't want to end up like Eliza -- stuck and out of options. Hannah and Carlos try to placate Eliza, but she insists she's not "stuck."

Eliza stands outside by the parking lot. Timmy returns, saying he told his parents he's done being manipulated by them. He thanks Eliza for pushing him to be a better leader. She gets mad, saying that's not her purpose, and that she deserves her own time.

Timmy says he will send everyone home and finish the inventory himself. He apologizes, which Eliza accepts.

Timmy says he's sorry she didn't get to watch Trout Royale, and she asks him if he watched it dubbed or with subtitles. He tells her subtitles (Aaron preferred the dub). Timmy gives her the car keys and heads back in.

Carlos and Hannah watch a "horror movie" trailer he has put together with the footage of Connie wrecking the store. Hannah encourages him to tell his parents that he wants to finish film school. He says he will, but not yet.

Timmy heads to the breakroom, where he sees Connie sleeping on the couch. He covers her with a blanket, and she stirs. Half-awake, Connie tells him Eliza and Aaron's marriage won't last more than a few months -- she's not happy with him.

Blockbuster Season 1 Episode 6 Quotes

Timmy: My mom’s a required taste.
Eliza: You mean an “acquired taste?’
Timmy: Nope, required, as in I’m required to help her whenever she calls.

Carlos: I’m, like, weirdly good at accounting. That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever said.
Connie: Saddest thing I’ve ever said is “One ticket for Space Jam 2.”
