Blue Bloods Season 12 Episode 17 deals with tense relationships and things not being as they seem.

Frank is surprised when Sid tells him that Mayor Chase has requested Jamie as his new head of security. Frank wants to tell Jamie, but Sid says if they are going by the book, Jamie doesn't get a say.

Later, Jamie tells Frank that the mayor invited him to lunch at Gracie Mansion. When Frank tells him what the mayor wants, Jamie is angry that Frank didn't give him a heads-up.

Meanwhile, Eddie and Badillo confront an agitator who is livestreaming the whole encounter and making comments about cops being pigs who are interfering with freedom of speech. Eddie arrests him when he lunges toward Badillo, which angers Badillo because he says public perception is that cops should never use force even when justified. The perp threatens to sue the department and Badillo blames Eddie for that too. However, Henry comes to see Eddie. He has an idea for resolving this.

Finally, Anthony worries that his half brother might be falling back into getting involved with the mob and Danny and Maria investigate the attempted murder of a wealthy couple's daughter.
