The BAU are called to investigate the murder of four members of a family who are found shot and strangled while sitting around a dining room table. Christmas music is playing in the background.

Shortly after the grisly discovery, local police capture a blood-covered suspect named Ezra Warren who tries to flee from the home.

The BAU learn that Warren is gay and that he has been seeing one of the dead family members named Lance Kingman.

The team combs through living family members and people connected to the family in their hunt for the methodical and cold killer.

Meanwhile Hotch receives a disturbing phone call regarding Haley's father Roy Brooks, who he learns has Alzheimer's. Brooks had broken into a store he once owned, thinking it was still his, and was attempting to open it up for business. Fortunately the owner decides not to press charges, and Hotch goes to the police station to pick him up.

Roy has no use for Hotch and blames him for the death of his daughter Haley, who is Hotch's late wife.

Who is the mystery killer and what was his motive for killing almost the entire family?

How will Hotch deal with the dichotomy of caring for his late wife's father while dealing with the man's hatred of him?

Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 20 Quotes

Brooks: He's all I've got left of Haley. I see her in his eyes, small things he does....
Hotch: I see it too.
Brooks: You and me, we're not good you know. I'll never forgive you for what happened.
Hotch: I wish you didn't feel that way.
Brooks: Oh don't be so understanding. For once, take the low road and tell me to take a hike.
Hotch: I think about what Haley would want for this family.
Brooks: Well I do too. She'd want to be alive still, and she'd want to be Jack's mom again.
Hotch: She wouldn't want us holding on to anger, or pointing fingers at each other.
Brooks: I'm pointing anyway. You'll be rid of me soon enough. Doctors tell me there'll come a day when I won't know who she is. Just a stranger. No anger, no pain. No regret. You know, this disease may not be a curse after all.

We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future - George Bernard Shaw.
