Recap

2500 BC, Land of Uz

Crowley informs a herd of goats that God has abandoned them. He prepares a fireball but is interrupted by Aziraphale who demands he stop his mischief and be gone.

Crowley refuses to leave since he has a permit. It certifies that God has signed off on Satan and his diabolical ministers destroying everything Job owns or cares about.

Aziraphale takes the permit back to Heaven and has it checked over by Muriel. She states it’s all in order and explains that it’s all part of a bet between God and Satan to see if Job still loves God after God lets everything be taken from him. Muriel includes Job’s children in the list of things to be destroyed.

Aziraphale takes his concerns to Gabriel and Michael who assure him Job will be rewarded with twice as much as he had before when he withstands the trials.

This includes the children. Aziraphale is concerned for Job’s wife who is already in her fifties bearing seven more children to replace with interest the three that will be taken as part of the trials. When Gabriel points out that they are now actively killing the three, it’s up to Hell what they do with the kids.

London, in the Present Day

Jim/Gabriel is reorganizing Aziraphale’s bookshop. While he’s working, he begins to sing Buddy Holly’s “Everyday” under his breath.

Shax wakes Crowley and suspects Aziraphale is involved. She tells him a miracle of enormous power was performed near the bookshop the night before. She warns Crowley if he doesn’t help them find Gabriel before Heaven, he’ll be eliminated by Hell’s minions.

Aziraphale goes to find out about the song from Maggie. Him singing the song triggers her tears. She admits she has feelings for Nina.

She tells him about the song and provides him with a copy from an enormous box of them. She says there’s a pub in Edinburgh who say every record they put in their jukebox ends up turning into that song. The name and address of the pub is taped to the record.

Suddenly trumpets are heard. Aziraphale realizes the archangels are arriving.

He meets them at the door of the bookshop, with Jim/Gabriel at his side. They do not recognize Jim/Gabriel at all.

The archangels question him about the plume of miracle energy. He says that he was performing a miracle to make Nina fall in love with Maggie.

They accept his explanation but plan to send an angel to log and verify the miracle. Jim/Gabriel is trying to make himself useful by demonstrating how books make terrible fly swatters.

Aziraphale and Crowley meet in the pub to discuss what Aziraphale told the archangels. While sitting at the table, he is ambushed by Mr. Brown who talks him into hosting the next Wickbur St. Association meeting on Thursday night.

Aziraphale tells Crowley how he lied to the archangels. He decides they need to make Nina and Maggie fall in love so it looks like an actual miracle was done.

On the way back the shop, Aziraphale explains about the song.

In the shop, they try to get Jim/Gabriel to remember and he taps into his angel memories briefly but his brain can’t handle it anymore.

In the Land of Uz, Crowley chats with Job in the burnt out remains of his house. He asks where the kids were. Job’s wife, Sitis, protests the children are innocent.

Aziraphale catches Crowley before he can get to the children. It turns out Crowley turned Job’s goats into crows to spare them.

The children turn out to be annoying and Crowley turns them into geckos. They hide out in the cellar while the storm God sent rages and destroys the house.

Later they find God talking to Job. Job doesn’t get any answers.

Returning to their home, Job and Sitis are visited by Gabriel and the heavenly host. Gabriel informs them that they will have double the sheep they lost and they will have seven new children to replace the ones that are dead.

Job and Sitis break down in tears. Aziraphale and Crowly interject, play an unlikely ruse on the heavenly host and restore the children to them.

Michael remains suspicious. Gabriel forces Aziraphale to say whether these are Job’s original children. Aziraphale ends up lying.

In the present day, Aziraphale tells Gabriel he used to be awful.

Crowley chats with Nina and then runs into Aziraphale who wants to take the Bentley up to Edinburgh.

Jim/Gadbrial continues to reorganize the shop.

In Uz, Aziraphale waits to be taken to Hell for lying to Gabriel. Crowley laughs at him and reassures him he’ll keep the secret.

Good Omens Season 2 Episode 2 Quotes

Aziraphale: Are we sure that Sitis wants to give birth four more times?
Michael: Seven more times.
Aziraphale: But she’s already got three children.
Michael: Yeah, but, those ones will be dead. Keep up.
Aziraphale: We’re not bringing the old ones back?
Gabriel: Well, of course not. But we’re giving them new ones.
Aziraphale: I think they quite like the old ones. And if we kill them…
Gabriel: Aziraphale, we are the good guys, okay? We’re not killing anyone. What we’re doing is simply not stopping Hell. What they do is up to them.

Aziraphale: Avaunt, foul demon! In the name of the Almighty, I command thee, BEGONE!
Crowley: No.
Aziraphale: No?
Crowley: No, thank you? See, I have a permit.
Aziraphale: A permit? From whom?
Crowley: From God.
