When you watch Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Episode 1, Alex brings Andrew to the hospital after beating him. His condition is horrific, and Meredith questions what she should say. Jo clears the air about not sleeping with Andrew, which is the reason why Alex beat him up in the first place. Jo thinks she should leave town after Alex lashes out, but Richard stops her. Andrew wakes up but freaks out when he sees Alex. Meredith finally tells Miranda what Alex did, but when they go to find him, he has already turned himself in.
