When you watch Grimm Season 6 Episode 1, you rejoin the action moments after the ending of the season 5 finale, with Nick and Renard standing over the dead body of Bonaparte, who was killed by Renard while Renard was being used as a marionette by his super-powerful murderous daughter, Diana. Trying to salvage the situation, Renard leaves and eventually decides to frame Nick for all the terrible things that happened that night, including the deaths of most of the North Precinct cops (who had actually kidnapped him). Renard initiates a full-scale manhunt with shoot-to-kill orders. Eve continues to suffer strange after-effects of being healed by the magic stick. While Team Grimm tries their best to cope with the situation in which they find themselves, they must still keep both themselves and Nick safe from the wrath of an increasingly erratic Renard, who is using the Portland Police to end his problem with Nick and thus consolidate his hold on the city for Black Claw.
