Benson is presenting to a board about a pattern assailiant. This woman comes running in and announces she is the new trial DA. SHe kinterrupts Benson again about the case and the team takes over explaining the case.

After the meeting the new DA says that the DA's office is on her ass and she hopes that Benson has some info for her. Benson has no real evidence yet. She says they are doing all they can.

Carisi tells Benson this woman is his new boss.

A woman walks into a darkened apartment and the lights don't work. She lights candles and goes to take a shower. She gets out of the shower and some guy with a gun shows up and tells her to drop the towel.

Benson arrives at the scene. The victim has serious injuries. Benson wants to see the scene. There is a lot of blood. Benson finds it hard to believe no one heard anything but the woman was possibly gagged. Benson says what about prints on the lamps? CSU has found a fingerprint on the top of a sliding door.

The victim is awake and gives Benson and Curry a statement. She can't describe the gun. However she says he had tan work gloves. He watched her bleed. Who would do this? Benson says the important thing is you're safe now.

The fingnerprint belongs to a maintenance guy who works in the area. The guy says it wasn't him. He has a record for groping someone on the subway. He insists the lab made a mistake. He says he doesn't recognize the victim and doesn't know how his fingerprint got on the door.

Heidi is glad to hear the suspect was arrested. However there is no evidence linking him to the other assault. She wants the case taken to the grand jury.

At arraignment Carisi requests remand. The defense wants ROR. Bail is set at 50K. The defendant is upset about this.

The defendant makes a plea deal for 7 years.

Velasco gets a call that another assault that fits the same MO.

The media is busy making the NYPD look bad and a news reporter asks if they arrested the wrong man.  This thime the suspect ran away before raping the woman because a neighbor knocked on the door.  Ugh, here comes Heidi She thinks that it's a copycat and claims Benson saying the case being rushed is an excuse she doesn't want to hear. Benson is sure Hedi will blame Carisi to the media.

The cops talk to the new victim. She says she tried to geto the guy talking. The way he looked at the gun was scary. It seemed very important to him. The holster said M.A.R. on it and she couldn't see the rest. He pistol-whipped her when she asked him what his name was. Thankfully the neighbor knocked on her door. The perp left his holster behind. She kicked it under the stove.

Benson and Fin can't stand listening to the news. THe holster initials show military involvement. Hedges is in Rikers and his phone was dead the night of Ariel's rape so they can't prove whether he was in the area at the time. Benson tells the cops to go live their lives if they have one.

Fin goes to throw out his trash and some kid with a gun accosts him. He says you put my dad in jail. Fin gets shot by accident trying to get the gun away from the kid. THe kid screams he didn't mean to. Fin tells him get out of here and I won't tell anyone anything. The kid runs away.

Fin checks out his wound in a bathroom. There's a lot of blood. He brings the gun to evidence and says a neighbor found it.  He faints from loss of blood.

Benson comes to the hospital and wants to know what happened. Velasco says Sarge turned in a gun. Fin claims to Benson he fainted fro eating a keto diet. He tells Benson the same BS story about where the gun came from and she doesn't buy it. She asks if he is protecting someone connected to Hedges. He tells her the kid was around Noah's age. He doesn't want the kid arrested or for Benson to tell anyone about this.

CUrry asks do I want to know what happened? Nope.

Carisi says Heidi won't let Hedges out. Curry says fingerprint analysis isn't reliable. Carisi says Heidi doesnt' want to hear that and they have to get evidence if they want to get Hedges free.

Carisi and Fin go to see Hedges. He says he works sanitation and you're not allowed to go into anyone's homes. He's new and did a string of other jobs before, including building supplies. Maybe he installed the glass door and that's how the fingerprint got there.

Bruno knows what to ask about because he went to trade school. They ask a clerk about the door.  They sold a few doors to that building. He says Hedges was a terrible employee who only lasted a month. They now have proof that Hedges handled the door. Now we have reasonable doubt but Carisi doubts Russell will listen. Also they got DNA off the holster. The guy was an ex-Marine dishonorably discharged. Carisi needs airtight proof.

Ariel is upset about having ID'd the wrong guy. She asks if she's in trouble. No, incorrect IDs happen all the time. Ariel feels bad and is afraid of IDing the wrong guy again. Benson convinces her to try. She says she will never forget his face.Ariel makes a new ID.

The cops look for the suspect who decides to shoot a semi-automatic at them out a window. Everyone ducks and there is a gunfight. Benson tells fFin to cover her and drives toward the building. She rescues a cop who was shot. Benson drives away with the cop and gets him to an ambulance.

Ifrared shows the man has a hostage. ESU wants to break in. Benson wants to save the woman. Benson calls the suspect and he tells her to go away. He says his choices are go down shooting or prison for the rest of his life. He says he and Jane are going out together and hangs up. ESU says they are going in.

ESU breaks in and throws flash grenades. The suspect is shot and the woman is rescued.

Jane says she met Glenn in high school and he was "normal" then. He wanted to see the world so he joined the military. She didn't know he was discharged for sexually assaulting a female soldier. She says she thought he was cheating on her and they were fighting a lot.

The cops have DNA evidence on the underwear showing that he raped all six women. Carisi says he will call Russell. Benson tells Fin to go tell Hedges his dather is coming home. She has somepalce else to be.

Hedges is released and his son is there. Fin asks to talk to Toby again. He says to him that he brought him here because he does not want to see him go to prison. If he ever sees him touching a gun he will be sorry.

Benson attends Maddie's 16th birthday. Maddie doesn't want any photos. Eileen tells Benson she doesn't know how to be a good mom to Maddie. She appreciates Benson taking her to therapy. She and Peter are working through things. Maybe she needs a compass necklace like Benson. Benson gives her the necklace. She can brrow it for as long as she wants.

Benson calls Stabler and asks how things are. She wanted to talk to him about something. She says that she wants to talk to him about the compass. She wanted him to know it has been meaningful for her and has guided her in terms of her healing. But she wanted him to know she lent it to a victim's mother. Stabler says the missing girl case. Stabler thinks Maddie's mother needs it more than she does. Benson knew he would understand.
