Maddie and Violet recruit clients at the jail. A woman comes up to Maddie and says she was wrongfully convicted by the press. Some girl behind the one they're talking to gets impatient and decides to shove the woman. Maddie goes into prison mode and gets into a brawl.

The rest of the team isn't sure Adele is innocent, especially after the 911 call. Maddie says her 911 call wasn't great either. 

Adele doesn't even remember the 911 call. She says she remembers seeing her mother but she went numb and her aunt sent her to a mental ward. She missed her mother's funeral and then said she was guilty because she didn't go. Adele doesn't remember how she got some injuries that were used to convict her. She says a lot of witnesses lied because they wanted her inheritance.

Easy talks to the original trial lawyer. He says it only took the cops about a week. They had their theory and that was it. Cops botched the DNA. The psychiatrist says Adele became belligerent when she missed her mother's funeral. SHe thinks Adele was grieving and did not kill her mother. Violet and Brodie suspect the aunt. Levi comes along and tells Maddie Toby is dead.

Levi thinks they should go to Toby's funeral to see if they can find something out.

Brodie bothers Tessa, Adele's aunt, who is playing golf.  She says Adele was a cute little girl who turned into a brat and drove her father to an early grave, leading Jane to cut her off.

Violet finds out Jane was having an affair with her lawyer -- and the cops never interviewed any other suspects besides Adele.

Miller shows up and complains Maddie sold him out. Maddie says that you subjourned perjury. She has a way for him to sink Rosemary's Law. She suggests that Rosemary's father will be on Miller's side.

Bellows meets with a guy named Rick Zon. Zon says Bellows' campaign is fraught thanks to Madeline. Bellows says Rosemary's Law is taking care of that. He says he understands Zon needs a friend in the AG office and wants to be that friend. Zon says he has big pharma trying to take down his appetite suppressant. He wants the criminal and civil cases against him to go away if Bellows wins the election. He will donate a ton of money and help Bellows become governor if he does this. Bellows wants to help but not if the product is dangerous. ZOn leaves and Bellows sighs to himself.

The psychiatrist testifies that the bruises were from restraining Adele when she got upset that she couldn't go to the funeral. Maddie gets a new trial on the grounds of prosecutorial misconduct.

Bodie says they have a problem: Tessa and her lover both have alibis.

Easy fills Adele in. She says she was at her friend Sydney's house all night. She says a witness lied. Maddie remembers Toby lying on the stand too to get her convicted. Anyway, Adele doesn't know why he lied. Adele sys to talk to Sydney.

Sydney feels bad she hasn't visited Adele. She felt bad. Adele wasn't a killer but she wouldn't blame her because her mom was a bitch who acted like Adele wasn't her real daughter. She says she and Adele took some Molly and Adele felt dizzy and went to sleep it off. Sydney says Grant lied because he's a douchebag. Anyway she gave the photos to the last lawyer. Maddie asks for the photos.

Grant is invited onto VIolet's show. He says Adele came on to him while she was high and he turned her down because of her race. He wants to know how they could talk to her in prison. He goes when he finds out they are her lawyers. They give him a subpoena.

Levi and Maddie go to Toby's funeral. Heather is not happy they are there. Nor are some other people who Maddie remembers testifying against us. 

During the funeral Maddie doesn't recognize someone. Levi tells her who it is -- a flunky of Heather's.

Heather does the eulogy. She talks about how kind, generous and empathetic Toby was and how he never recovered from the slaying of her best friend Rosemary Lynch. Linda leaves. She is sure Toby committed suicide because Rosemary was murdered.

Maddie catches up with Linda, who says she OD'd and knew about the Adderall ring. She says Legrange wasn't what it seemed -- a lot of bad stuff happened. Maddie asks if she knows who killed Rosemary. Linda says she doesn't. Toby is gone and more could be killed if this keeps going. She thinks Maddie should let it go.

Maddie talks to Dylan (the reporter). She thinks Linda's over OD is about Rosemary. Maybe Linda is right that Toby would still be alive if she hadn't confronted him. 

Maddie has a flashback of talking to Rosemary about their future. They pallned to live next door to each other so their kids could be best friends too. She tells Dylan she was thinking about him.

Bodie and Violet watch Sydney's video and it's mostly boring but they see Grant on the video.

Bellows tells Maddie to stop representing Adele. He is sure Adele is guilty. He says he has an obligation to convict those who are not innocent and he knows when someone is guilty. Maddie is not interested in his opinion.

Grant has some story about how Adele said she was going to kill her mother because she couldn't buy alcohol. Maddie asks him how he remembers so much when everyone was wasted. He says he was the designated driver. Maddie has a video of Grant doing cocaine. She asks why he lied. He says the cops threatened to charge him with possession if he didn't cooperate. Easy says Grant doesn't have a motive for murder. Maddie needs a new suspect. Some guy is following them around. He says he is an expert in serial killers. He knows Adele and he thinks a serial killer killed Jane.

The guy says that a guy named Leopold was a serial killer who was acquitted because of a sleazy defense lawyer and he thinks Jane fits the pattern. He has an algorithm he and his students have designed. He puts in Jane's information and finds a lot of similarities with Leopold. Except Leopold usually used phishing emails to stalk and kill people but he doesn't know if Jane had such an email. Adele thought he was crazy and didn't listen to this theory.
