The Whitmore-Dugan household are preparing to go to a cabin in the woods when they're attacked by Sportsmaster and Tigress.

They're able to escape relatively unharmed and meet up with Yolanda, Rick, Beth, and Justin.

With Sportsmaster and Tigress having failed, Icicle deploys Ayana to help them. 

The married duo are unhappy with the turn of events and kill Ayana instead.

Brainwave performs a test run of the machine, and things go smoothly.

At the cabin, Rick is frustrated that he hasn't been able to decipher his father's notebook, especially with time running out.

Part of Rick's difficulty stems from him not knowing Rex, and Pat suggests the code may have something to do with Rex's 1966 Mustang, which cracks the code.

The formula, when scanned by Chuck, reveal a map of the tunnels used by the ISA.

Chuck then posits the ISA is building a synaptic amplifier, and the rest of the JSA put together Brainwave will be using Dr. Ito's machine to brainwash the people into following the ISA's vision for a new America.

The group splits up, with Courtney, Pat, Yolanda, Beth, and Justin going into the tunnels and Beth and Barbara going to the Project New America headquarters.

Beth then finds out the ISA's plan involves creating a more tolerant, environmentally-friendly society, and the new JSA has second thoughts.

The new JSA then learns that 25 million people will die as a result of the brainwashing, prompting them to double down on their efforts to destroy the machine.

However, the Gambler then reveals the broadcast goes into effect now, and Barbara, Pat, and Justin enter into a trance-like state.

Brainwave then forces Pat to attack Courtney.
