Recap

Diane and Marissa represent a client who's being sued for teaching socialism to her students during the pandemic.

The case is being tried in a court behind a copy shop that has no jurisdiction or power and overseen by a fake judge, Hal Wackner.

Marissa thrives in the courtroom, but Diane is confused by the court's existence, unhappy with it.

The duo win the case.

Carmen Moyo starts at the firm and makes waves when she engratiates herself with convicted drug kingpin Oscar Rivi.

Oscar Rivi only wants Carmen to be his lawyer, and Carmen gets called in by LIz, who tells her to watch her step.

Carmen is able to get Oscar out of jail by having a fellow cartel member admit to the murder Oscar was convicted of.

Liz reminds Carmen that the firm's reputation is more important than short-term wins and offers to be her mentor.

Liz and Diane consider Julius and Caleb to fill Lucca's senior associate position, and Liz decides on Julius.

Diane discusses her position within the firm with Kurt and considers giving up her name partnership.

She decides she and Liz should hire a Black name partner to fill Adrian's spot and wants Liz's backing should her partnership ever be in question.

Diane: We need a continuance on Toni Hedger’s case.
Marissa: Really? I get to argue a continuance?
Diane: No, you get to accompany Phoebe who will argue the continuance, and you get to hold the client’s hand.

David Lee: That’s right. They’re letting you play lawyer, Marissa. How nice.
Marissa: Fucking prick.
