When you watch The Mysteries of Laura Season 1 Episode 22, you'll see how far a woman will go to get justice for the man she still has feelings for. The team races against the clock to find the person who shot Jake and they are pointed in the direction of grandson of the owner of the store Jake was shot at. It turns out the grandson, Joseph, is a tech wiz and created a 3D gun that can actually be used, but it is of course untectable. The team scrambles to find him and when they do he admits he already gave the gun to the biker gang who was intitially after it which leads Frankie and Laura hot on thier trail. When they go to where the gang is at, Laura finds the man who shot Jake and almost shoots him, but is stopped by Frankie. The gang has already sold the gun to someone else and they aren't talking, but Laura is able to dephier a clue that leads them to the courthouse where a shooting will go down. At the courthouse, they find a woman named Pamela who bought the gun because she is determined to take the life of the man who killed her daughter. In an impassioned speech, Laura convinces the woman not to shoot the man because it won't do her any favors and Pamela eventually listens. At the hospital, Jake is put into a medically induced coma to prevent anymore sweeling in his brain and when he's taken out of it, he expresses his feelings to Laura who admits she loves him too. In a shocking twist, when she comes back into the room, Jake has forgotten what he has told her and the nurse admits that this is going to continue to happen until this figure out what kind of brain damage Jake has.
