Stefan and Damon had a brief reunion, but Damon wanted to rush off and see Elena. Unfortunatley Stefan broke the news to him that Elena had his memory compelled away.

Caroline and Alaric tried to talk to Elena but she didn't want to see him. When Damon went to her dorm room she ran away. When she finally did agree to a meeting, Damon was abducted by Tripp's anti-vampire army.

Everyone banded together to save Damon and Enzo. Alaric and Stefan served as a diversion, but Tripp still wouldn't take the bait. He drove through the border with Damon, Enzo, and Alaric. Stefan bravely walked through the border to save Damon and Enzo. By the time he could get to Alaric, Jo was already saving him.

Now Alaric is back to being human and can no longer un-compell Elena's memory.

Before that moment, Alaric had Elena spy on Jo to figure out why she couldn't be compelled. After a confrontation, she realized that Jo was a witch but Jo didn't want to talk about it and never told Alaric.

Caroline is not ready to forgive Stefan. Matt tried to help out Sarah but ultimately wanted to warn her off to leave town. Jeremy struggled to come to terms with the fact that Bonnie might really be gone.
