Someone tapes a horse from afar and then breaks into the stables to steal it.

Colter meets with Hugh Laslow, one of the owners of Argo, the stolen racehorse. Argo was due to race in a competition that would qualify him for the Kentucky Derby, and Hugh believes his soon-to-be ex-wife Tina and new beau Redford may have had something to do with it.

Colter runs into Billie, a fellow reward-seeker with whom he worked together on a case in the past, and she screwed him over. She is also working on the Argo case.

Colter has Velma and Teddi look into Redford, and he sneaks himself into a party Redford is throwing, where he meets Argo’s other owners, including Stuart and Kenji.

Tina and Redford insist Hugh is bitter. And when Colter snoops around Redford’s house, he’s surprised by Billie in an office, who is doing the same. While Billie breaks into Redford’s safe, Colter looks through his desk, and then they hide when security snoops around.

Billie asks Colter to work together, and Colter tells Velma and Teddi, who tells him no.

Colter goes to Billie the next day and agrees to team up, and they both deduce Redford didn’t steal Argo based on what they found in his office.

The two return to the Laslow farm and re-trace the steps from the night Argo was taken. Colter feels like everything was a set-up and figures out that one person rode Argo off the property the night he was stolen.

Colter and Billie talk to Hugh, who tells them Argo was a tricky ride. They then speak to Argo’s vet, Dr. Glenn, who says two people who could ride Argo were a jockey in Florida and his former trainer, Daniel Flynn.

Bobby gets Colter information about Flynn, and he and Billie go to his barn, where they find him dead. When Billie distracts the police, Colter snoops around the property and finds syringes that carry horse tranquilizers.

Colter goes to Hugh to tell him about Flynn’s death, and Hugh tells him he got a message on the tip line from someone saying they saw Argo.

Billie snoops around Dr. Glenn’s office and looks at Argo’s medical records, which show he was being doped up with various medications and was infertile because of it.

Bobby gets Colter the information on the location the caller on the tip line gave or Argo’s whereabouts. Colter and Billie then head there and are trapped in a barn, which is then set on fire. They narrowly escape.

While Colter patches Billie up, they nearly share a kiss before Bobby calls with information about Dr. Glenn. He tells them the doctor was receiving pig payouts from an LLC owned by Stuart. He also tells the LLC recently purchased pasture land, and Colter and Billie head there.

They see Argo on the land, and Colter gets him, but Stuart takes Billie at gunpoint. Billie eventually gets the upper hand, and Colter is able to knock Stuart out.

Colter returns Argo to Hugh and Tina while Billie talks to the FBI.

Later, Billie calls him to say the FBI is freezing Hugh’s accounts, so they won’t get paid yet. Colter takes Billie up on her previous offer for dinner, but Billie asks him for a raincheck, and the two say goodbye.
