Bill wins over the Church when he tells stories from the Civil War. With Sookie and Bill being distant, Sam takes Sookie on a date.
When another Bon Temps woman, Dawn, is found dead, Jason Stackhouse is again brought into custody. Sookie tries to use her ability to find the real killer and goes with Bill to Fangtasia, a vampire bar.
Bill claims Sookie as his human to protect her from his vampire "friends." Sam and Tara wind up sleeping together after they're both frustrated with their respective relationship problems.
Bill rescues Sookie from the Rattrays and brings her back to life using his Vampire blood. Meanwhile, Jason is released from custody when they reveal his strangling did not kill Maudette.
The show premise is introduced via a television show that a synthetic blood, Tru Blood, has been introduced that will allow Vampires to live amongst the living in society. A waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, meets a vampire, Bill.
