Nick Viall: His Long and Winding Road to The Bachelor

at .  Updated at .

The world is about to get a whole season of Nick V, but fans of the Bachelor franchise are already familiar with this villain turned suitor from his appearances on Seasons 10 and 11 of The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise Season 3.

It's time to look back at his amazing journey to find (and lose) love with Andi Dorfman, Kaitlyn Bristowe and various other ladies in Mexico including Amanda Stanton, Leah Block and Jen Saviano.

There's been tears, fights and a lot of accusations about "making love" that lead up to ABC's decision to make Nick its leading man, so grab a glass of wine and relive or learn Nick's Bachelor history before you see him make even more.

1. Meet Nick V

Nick Viall had a traditional entrance into Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette. He came out of the limo wearing a smile and a polka dotted tie.

2. The First Impression Rose

Much to Nick’s (and basically everyone watching at home and in the mansion) surprise, he got the first impression rose from Andi. He was thrilled and the sparks between the two of them started to fly.

3. A Lack Of Enthusiasm For Group Dates

As Nick’s relationship with Andi continued to grow, his relationship with the rest of the suitors became more and more hostile. He knew he was the front-runner, and he let everyone around him know it too. When he refused to participate during a group date, all of the other men thought Andi would see “the real Nick,” but their relationship didn’t skip a beat.

4. The First Heartbreak

Nick made it to the final two along with Josh Murray, and Andi clearly had feelings for both of them. She couldn’t keep her hands off of Josh, but frequently said that Nick “made her feel like a woman.” She ultimately broke up with Nick before the final rose ceremony so he didn’t have a chance to propose. He was heartbroken.

5. AFR Disaster

At one of the most controversial After The Final Rose specials to date (Jason Mesnick still holds the title for most dramatic), a visibly upset Nick, who had been trying to make contact with Andi since the show wrapped, asked her a question about their night in the infamous fantasy suite. “If you didn't love me why did you make love to me?” was the question heard around the world, and after breaking the unspoken “what happens in the fantasy suite, stays in the fantasy suite” rule, Nick’s role as a villain was solidified.

6. Bachelorette Round Two

A few weeks into Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of the Bachelorette, Nick unexpectedly showed up during a group date and revealed the two of them talked before her season started and that he had feelings for her. Much to the rest of the cast’s dismay, Kaitlyn let Nick stay and the two started their makeout tour across the country. And later in Europe.

7. Nick's Reputation Precedes Him

Nick’s initial fights with Josh Murray looked tame compared to his issues with Kaitlyn’s other front-runner Shawn Booth, who questioned his character and intentions with Kaitlyn after seeing him on Andi’s season, especially after…

8. Let's Talk About Sex (Again)

Nick made sex-related headlines once again when he slept with Kaitlyn BEFORE the fantasy suite. The pair just couldn’t help it and made Bachelor history by jumping into bed before that infamous date card from Chris Harrison. They also forget to take their mics off and created one of the most awkward moments to watch and listen to on TV. Ever.

9. Rejected Proposal

Despite their connection and brief history before the show, Kaitlyn picked Shawn over Nick, but not before she let him get down on one knee and propose. Nick was shocked and angry that Kaitlyn let him finish his entire speech before she stopped him.

10. It's Not Okay

Ah, remember Andi? Nick’s first almost-fiancée wrote a tell-all book about her experience on the show and her breakup with Josh Murray. She talks about Nick and their infamous love-making, and makes it clear that she did not think the night was quite as magical as he did.

11. Nick in Paradise

After a whole year of not being on our TV, Nick blessed the world with his third Bachelor appearance when he joined the cast of Bachelor in Paradise. He looked more fit and confident than ever, and soon became a popular pick to take on a date. He hit it off with single mom Amanda and the two seemed to have promise. Until…

12. Nick and Josh Murray Meet Again

Enter Josh Murray. Nick came in second place to Josh (again!) when Josh started dating Amanda. Along with the rest of the cast, Nick had concerns about Josh because of Andi’s book, which accused him of being emotionally abusive. This time, Nick looked like the hero and Josh looked like the psycho. However, despite Nick’’s pleas to Amanda, Josh and Amanda ultimately got engaged, but eventually called it quits after the show.

13. A Few Brief Flings

Before Nick’s time in Paradise ended, he went on a date with Jubilee, but did not see a connection. He also went out with Leah, a fellow villain. But since Nick was now a hero, he ditched Leah and her bad reputation (and new lips), which made the rest of the cast very happy.

14. Nick Finds Love (Sort Of?)

Nick’s final relationship in Mexico was with Jen. The pair got along and it looked like they were going to leave Paradise together… until ABC announced he was the new Bachelor before the season even finished airing. He broke up with Jen in the finale, but her friends insist the two continued to see each other after the show wrapped until he left to be The Bachelor.

15. Meet Bachelor Nick

It’s time to meet 30 new women who want to date Nick, including one who he slept with at Jade and Tanner’s wedding, which also aired on ABC. Will the fourth time really be the charm? Or will Nick have to find a wife off of ABC (god forbid!) Time will tell.

The Bachelor Quotes

I would definitely prefer not to be the first Bachelor rejected at the end of all of this.

Nick

This is not another season of The Bachelorette. Or Paradise. This is actually The Bachelor. I know, I’m as surprised as you are.
