God Friended Me Trailer: Can This Heartwarming Series Succeed on CBS?

at .  Updated at .

CBS is trying something new on Sunday nights.

The 8/7c slot will be given to God Friended Me, a brand new drama series that sounds a little too similar to Kevin (Probably) Saves the World to take seriously. Once you watch the trailer, you'll see more than just a little similarity between the two.

Per the official logline:

Questions of faith, existence, and science are explored in this humorous, uplifting series about an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he is “friended” by God on social media. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.

The cast includes Brandon Micheal Hall, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie and Joe Morton, based on the trailer alone, they are all solid actors.

Sundays are becoming a wasteland for the broadcast networks with ratings diminishing, but CBS aims to tackle that with a family drama that appeals to all ages.

Everyone thought Once Upon a Time was going to be a colossal failure in the same slot when it debuted, and that series wraps after seven seasons on Friday.

Have a look at the full trailer below and join me in the comments with your thoughts on it.

Could this work on CBS when the same concept didn't work on ABC?
