so 1 in 5 people fail the boards and there is 5 characters taking the board...that's some ominous foreshadowing. My bet's on Cristina, she's the only person who has no reason to stay so if they want to realistically write a way to keep her at SGMW hospital it will have to be through her failing the boards. Besides, she did have barely any studying compared to everyone else because of the whole Owen thing.

In regard to their contracts, I fully agree with Goldie and could not have said it better myself. I'm almost 100% certain that contracts have already been signed (by those who have chosen to stay).
That being said, I give the show 10 seasons (total) survivability. In my television-viewing experiences, the only shows lasting longer than 10 seasons, lasted that long because the storylines started delving into the supernatural, spacey, freaky or absurd. The majority of those shows went down in flames for that very reason; (failure to respectfully give the fans closure and end on a high note). Instead they dragged on painfully for years, having storylines that bore no resemblance to the embodiment of the show's origination.
I'd hate to see that happen to Grey's.
I say give it another 2 seasons, make sure there is plenty of closure for the fans, and call it a wrap. I don't want to see another PHENOMENAL medical drama turned into a train wreck.

I think the contracts have already been taken care of and they just aren't announcing it so that people will go crazy. They'll announce them sometime after the season is over, but I think they'll try to keep it under wraps as long as possible.
