It looks like The Vampire Diaries is about to get even better looking.

The new CW series is adding a series regular in its sixth episode this fall, and he'll be a familiar name for loyal followers of the book series.

Alaric Saltzman is a twenty-something history teacher that is described by executive producer Kevin Williamson in one word: "hot."

Also, residents of Virginia (where the show is filmed) ought to take note: it will soon be casting a handful of locals to portray several townspeople, such as parents, the town sheriff and a pastor.
